The July 2024 Vegancuts Beauty Box theme was Staycation Pampering and I received five products, including a lip gloss, scalp treatment, and cleanser. Each month you can expect to receive vegan and cruelty-free products (and Vegancuts offers a snack box too)! See what I received in this month’s box below!

DEAL: Use the coupon code hellosub to get $5 off your first box on any Vegancuts subscription! It can only be used once per customer, but it can be used on multiple subscriptions at once so long as they are in the same transaction.

The product info card lists the items and names the charity of the month. Please note that I am missing item #5 and received a substitute in its place.

Tropicgal Naturals Scalp Oil ($36.99) has a blend of oils that are supposed to treat your scalp, whether dry or oily, and may help fight dandruff. Jojoba, black cumin, tamanu, and cranberry seed oils are combined with peppermint and tea tree essential oils to produce a green-tinted oil that should be applied before washing the hair. You massage a few drops into the scalp and then wait at least 10 minutes before using shampoo and conditioner. It mostly smells like the black cumin seed oil, with a hint of peppermint.

Kirk’s 3-in-1 Head To Toe Nourishing Cleanser ($0.75) I was missing an item, the lovely-sounding massage oil, and received this mini cleanser in its place. It has natural fragrance added and is perfect for packing along for a weekend getaway.

Dr. Botanicals Grapefruit & Watermelon Refreshing Cleanser ($9.90) I had to laugh as the instructions on the brand’s website says to apply this cleanser to “clean, dry skin”. Whaaaat? At least the container has the correct directions. I applied it to wet, makeup covered skin and while I prefer a creamy cleanser for my dry skin, this is a gel cleanser that turns foamy but it removed all of my face makeup. It has watermelon seed oil and grapefruit & orange peel oils that are supposed to brighten skin and leave it soft. I wasn’t expecting much scent-wise since it has no perfume added (yay!) but it’s not a great smell, though it was tolerable. It doesn’t smell like watermelon or grapefruit (as the info card hinted at), at least mine didn’t.

Belle Pierre Peach Lip Mask ($20) is a peach-flavored lip balm with coconut oil for the first ingredient. Belle Pierre claims that this is fragrance-free and that it has hyaluronic acid, yet the ingredients list fragrance and fail to list hyaluronic acid. It feels like classic gloss and the peachy flavor is perfect for summer.

Last Object Reusable Last Round Sample ($2.28) At first I liked the idea of these reusable replacements for disposable cotton rounds, but in practice it wasn’t a good fit. This round reminded me of Swedish dishcloths, which are replacements for paper towels and which can be thrown in the laundry. Yes, this can be machine washed too, but it needs to be placed in a lingerie bag or it will go the way of the errant sock. I soaked it in water and then applied eye makeup remover (because this is how I use cotton rounds, to remove eye makeup) and wiped my eye. I think this is too rough for that area, just like I wouldn’t use a paper towel there either. I washed it with hand soap afterwards but it is now stained and it doesn’t feel hygienic in any way. It has a different texture on each side so maybe these are better used to apply toner but again, I don’t think I would feel comfortable reusing them from a cleanliness standpoint and so this ended up in the trash.

The Staycation Pampering Box from Vegancuts had a good mix of products, although I can’t help but wish the massage oil would have been included (because it sounded dreamy!). I was happy to receive a travel-friendly body wash and while I appreciate the idea of the Last Object reusable cotton round I found that I couldn’t get into it personally. I will use the scalp oil at least once a month (once a week would probably be better so that is my goal) and I am so happy that it has no added fragrance. The Dr Botanicals cleanser isn’t right for my skin type but I liked the flavor and feel of the Belle Pierre Peach Lip Mask. The value for this box was around $70.
