The Ipsy Glam Bag theme for July 2024 was Passport to Glow! I received a bag and five beauty products including a cleanser, body scrub, and more. Read on to see all of my beauty items!

Note: Ipsy sends many variations, so the bag I’m reviewing may not match everyone else’s. Also, my bag is sent for review, while subscribers get to choose an item for their bag and have their products curated to their beauty quiz!

Ipsy Glam Bag This isn’t an Ipsy Glam Bag, it’s a Refreshments by Ipsy bag, and we’ve received one before in the past year or so. I like the Ipsy monthly bags, which usually have zippers, so I was sad to find yet another cinch pouch. On the positive side, it’s roomy. It’s made of satin polyester fabric.

Frank Body Glycolic Body Scrub ($2.64) has two different types of exfoliators: chemical and physical. The chemical is a duo of glycolic and lactic acids, which helps get rid of dead skin cells. The physical exfoliator is pumice, which buffs away dead skin cells. So hop in the shower, get skin wet, slather this all over arms and legs, then wait a minute before rinsing to give the acids time to work. Although this is scented with parfum, it doesn’t have much scent and it fades quickly. I didn’t think the scrub was gritty enough for my preferences.

Real Chemistry Fresh-Start Foaming Cleanser ($2.86) Does anyone remember when Real Chemistry had a “peeling” mask that you had to rub on your face and that supposedly made dead skin cells clump up and come off? Ha, fun times. This cleanser, sadly, is highly perfumed so I wasn’t a fan as I don’t like to rub perfume all over my face. Please note that the ingredients listed on the brand’s website are totally different from those listed on the back of the tube I received. I tried using this to remove sunscreen from my face after swimming and it certainly didn’t foam up, it was rather creamy though.

Catano Beauty Hydrating Lip Glaze in Blush ($13.99) Supposedly this lip gloss in a tiny tube will give lips a “rosy pink shine” but the color doesn’t show up at all. It’s a classic kind of gloppy lip gloss with not much scent or flavor. Why is this selling for $14?

TARTE™ Fake Awake Eye Highlight ($20) I cannot believe that this tiny “travel size” sells for $20 at Tarte, it barely has any product in it at all! I later twisted it all the way up and it barely goes past what is shown in the photo above. It’s like thick concealer and you’re supposed to run it over the waterline, brow bone, cupid’s bow, etc. to brighten those areas up. I used it on my waterline, and it was uncomfortable, looked weird, and disappeared after I blinked a few times. I tried applying it to my cupid’s bow and it was hard to blend, I pretty much rubbed it off just trying to blend it out. The full size (which costs $37 and only has twice the amount of product, still a ridiculously small amount) comes with a blender but again, it was hard to blend to begin with. Swatched below.

SERAPHINE BOTANICALS Periwinkle + Pop Soft Sculpting Blush in Seashell ($24) is a full-sized product, although it is rather petite. I like the bright pink color, it gives my pale face a luminous glow, but it can also be paired with other cream and powder products. It has a hint of shimmer and is perfect for summer! Swatched below.

Swatched on top is the pretty in pink Seraphine Botanicals blush in Seashell and under that is the Tarte Fake Awake, which is probably a dollar’s worth of sample in that squiggle.

I really wanted to be excited about Ipsy’s Passport to Glow theme but between the recycled Refreshment’s bag, the odd Tarte waterliner, and the perfumed face wash, there wasn’t much to wow me this month. Even the lip balm was meh, who needs another gloppy lip balm? The Frank Body Glycolic Scrub was fun to use, even though it wasn’t gritty enough for my preferences, but it smelled good in my shower (Perfume on my arms and legs is fine, but my face and scalp? No, thank you). My favorite item was the peppy pink blush from Seraphine Botanicals, it looked so pretty and made my skin glow, so at least Ipsy got that one right. They also get points for sending a good variety this month, with a body product, face product, and three different makeup items. The value for this assortment was around $63 but most of these products are sold only at the brand’s website, although Tarte can be found at Sephora and Frank Body at Ulta.

Ipsy is a monthly subscription beauty membership known as The Glam Bag and contains sample and/or full-size makeup and beauty products delivered straight to your door.
