Every Curiosity Box comes with a handy guide called Curiosity Magazine. This mini magazine not only lists every item inside the box but also includes interesting articles and fun facts. It’s like having your own little science and discovery journal, helping you make the most out of each exciting item in the box.
First up, the Knot Shirt! The design is super quirky, celebrating the adventurous spirit of knot-tying with a bold and eye-catching print. It’s sure to spark conversations wherever you go, whether you’re exploring outdoors or attending a casual gathering. Also, it seems like they’ve increased their t-shirt sizing. This one feels like a standard-size medium, not too slim or small. It’s comfortable, fits well, and is perfect for casual wear or showing off your curiosity at any event.
Inspired by Philippe Petit’s fearless high-wire feats, Why Knot by Philippe Petit ($19.95) dives deep into the art and science of knots. From mathematicians to scouts and curious minds in my household, this is going to be one of our most loved books. It’s filled with fascinating facts, beautiful illustrations, and easy-to-follow guides, turning knot-tying into a captivating adventure. It’s amazing how something so simple can be so intriguing! I can already picture us spending hours trying out different knots, turning it into a fun and educational family activity.
Now, this one’s a brain teaser! The Picture Pie comes packaged in a mini pizza box and includes stencils for deconstructing images rotationally. It’s all about looking at pictures differently and putting them back together creatively. You select a picture disk, place it on a piece of paper, and then use the stencils to break down the image into parts. It’s almost like solving a puzzle!
We’ve already had a blast trying it out together, using markers we had at home! This process not only challenges the mind but also allows for the creation of unique artwork. It’s a perfect activity to enjoy with friends and family, encouraging creativity and problem-solving in a fun way.
The Martian Soil is a mini science experiment right in the box. It’s a sample of simulated Martian soil that precisely chemically and geologically replicates the surface of Mars, based on samples taken by the Curiosity Rover at the Gale Crater. How cool is that?
The soil comes in a little jar, and it’s fascinating to see and touch something that’s so close to what astronauts might be working with. Used by NASA researchers as a testbed for new technology and exploration, it’s a fantastic way to get kids and adults alike excited about space exploration.
The Shadow Alphabet Puzzle is a set of refrigerator magnets that form the Latin alphabet, and it’s extremely heavy. The idea is to arrange the puzzle shapes in such a way that they cast shadows forming words. Once you’ve mastered the setup, you can explore heterograms—words that use the same letters to spell different words, adding an exciting linguistic twist to the puzzle. This activity is both stimulating and educational, providing an enjoyable challenge for all ages. We’ve had a blast figuring out how to arrange the letters and spell out various words together!
Overall, this return to the Curiosity Box’s classic format is sure to delight subscribers—the addition of both a book and a shirt was a brilliant move. The carefully curated selection of items not only entertains but also educates, making learning an enjoyable adventure. Personally, delving into the knots book has been a highlight of this season’s box, offering both practical knowledge and entertainment. The intricacies of different knots, their uses, and historical contexts have been fascinating to explore. I can’t wait to see what surprises the next boxes will bring and how they’ll keep us engaged and curious!
