Kinder Beauty Box is a vegan beauty subscription box. This month Kinder Beauty changed their model and they now let you “build your box”! They send three items chosen for everyone by Kinder, then you will get to customize two other items from a short list. You are also able to purchase add-ons that ship with your monthly box. Kinder Beauty kindly sent all of the item choices for review so the picture shown above is what I would have chosen for myself!

NOTE: Most of the item values came from the Kinder Beauty website and I must say, they are far lower than what you will find on the individual brands pages if you were to order from those brands.

Everyone gets these three items!

Laguna Herbals Eye Balm ($32.50) I like eye balms, and I like them to feel a little greasy after applying, so this one was a hit with me! A little goes a long way towards helping to reduce puffiness, fight fine lines, and just helping this area to look refreshed. It has ingredients like sunflower oil, grapeseed oil, chamomile, and calendula. It is scented with a proprietary blend of essential oils but I detect a hint of rose (which is listed) and possibly geranium? It’s not super strong. Use twice a day and supposedly it can help remove eye makeup but I didn’t try that. Not feeling it for your eyes? Try applying to cuticles, elbows, or heels.

Lavido Thera Intensive Body Cream ($9.50) I like a rich body cream and this one worked well and didn’t leave me a greasy mess. It’s made of stuff like shea butter and jojoba oil and has black cumin seed oil, tea tree, and lavender. It’s supposed to nourish skin and help relieve some skin conditions such as psoriasis. I applied it after my shower and my skin absorbed it quickly. I’m not a big fan of the scent, which smells almost medicinal (or like pine cleaner to my senses) but the scent doesn’t last long.

Purfect Liquid Mask Sachet – Acai and Pink Clay ($2.38) Head’s up before you use this mask, it should have enough for 2-3 uses so keep a clip nearby to help keep it closed between uses. Like most clay masks, you apply this to clean, dry skin and wait around 15-20 minutes before rinsing off (I prefer to use in the morning and to rinse under the shower spray). It’s best for oily to combination skin so I am going to share this with my daughter, I think she will like it, especially with it being pink!

Choice 1: Subscribers got to choose between a toothpaste or a deodorant.

Davids Sensitive + Whitening Premium Toothpaste ($5.98) I prefer using toothpaste with fluoride but if I were in the market for an alternative then it would probably be this brand. It’s supposed to help repair sensitive teeth and maybe even leave them a little whiter. It tastes pretty good, if slightly salty, but afterwards my mouth feels the same as it does after chewing minty gum, all cool and refreshed. Plus, it isn’t charcoal toothpaste so there’s no dark mess in the sink after using, yay!

J&L Naturals Mineral Deodorant – Orange & Bergamont ($7) We have choices and some people are happy to choose a natural mineral deodorant over a traditional antiperspirant/deodorant but I prefer the latter. This is in a cardboard tube but I was having a heck of a time pushing it up from the bottom (you may need to microwave it for a couple of seconds to get it to budge, or roll it around to loosen it, or stick it under your clothes to melt it with body heat). This version is free of baking soda (which causes irritation to some) and the scent is very nice, I love the citrus notes.

Choice 2: Subscribers got to choose between two makeup items from Bellapierre or a hair tonic from Sukin.

Bellapierre Cosmetics Pro Blush Palette ($22.50) I like Bellapierre makeup but I must say this container didn’t seem all that upscale, maybe because the mirror fell out when I opened it, but I guess it can be re-glued. Also, the sections are rather small so it’s hard to get my blush brush in there. Finally, the colors are not very vibrant or pigmented, which is fine for my pale skin but it might not work for others depending on their desired look. It’s supposed to have colors that are “a rosy terracotta matte, a shimmery peach, shimmery pink, and a glowy highlighter shade”. I couldn’t get a good picture of the swatch (shown below) because the shades barely showed up. After having said all that, I must say that I actually liked it once it was on my skin. I ended up just swishing my makeup brush through the whole palette at once and applied it like that, and it looked good!

Here’s the swatch of the blush palette. Sorry about the blurry quality, the colors hardly showed up!

Sukin Naturals Deep Cleanse Purifying Hair Tonic ($8) The idea behind this tonic is that it may help remove product buildup and other skin nasties to leave behind a clean scalp. It has ingredients like apple cider vinegar, aloe, glycerin, and mint extract. You spritz it on sectioned hair and let it sit for about 60 seconds before rinsing off and following with shampoo. I don’t think it did much but it smelled like herbs and didn’t seem to irritate my scalp so maybe I’ll try it a few more times.

Bellapierre Cosmetics HD Finishing Powder ($7) Again, I like this brand but I rarely use setting powder since I use a mineral powder foundation. However, I decided to do a full face look to try out all of my new makeup products from various boxes this month and used liquid foundation and this setting powder did a good job of mattifying my face.

The March 2023 Beauty Box from Kinder was their first “build your box” and I thought the products were all solid performers. I was especially happy with my new under eye balm, it is very lush and just what I needed to keep the area feeling moist. The blush was light but buildable and worked best with a neutral eye. I will gift the mask sachet but I’m keeping the toothpaste for occasional use, I like the taste and the refreshing feeling it leaves behind. The prices I found on the Kinder website were much lower than what you would pay on the featured brands websites — for instance, the toothpaste is $5.98 at Kinder, but the MSRP (and Amazon price) is $11.95! Obviously the value will vary depending on which items you choose, but based on my ideal box as shown above, the value was around $121!
