Marc Jacobs O!Mega Glaze All-Over Foil Luminizer ($49) Sadly the Marc Jacobs beauty brand is discontinued which is a damn shame because their products were cruelty-free! This is a pale gold-toned highlighter. I provided a swatch below and you’ll see how pigmented it is – a light hand is necessary!

Covergirl Eyeshadow Palette ($9.99) Cover Girl is one of the biggest drugstore retail brands and back in 2021, they received their official cruelty-free certification from Leaping Bunny International! I like to grab their products if I’m in need some a quick fix (like I’ve run out of primer and don’t want to go to Sephora) and they have a solid library. This quad of their eyeshadows is a bit too similar to things I already have, but at $10 you can’t go wrong.

NYX Makeup Brush ($12) NYX is another cruelty-free brand found at drugstores, so this box is mixing it up nicely. I will ALWAYS love a beauty box that includes a tool like a brush because when you wear makeup every day you really need to keep up with having clean brushes in rotation. This is a small brush that could be used for crease work, the lower lash line, or anywhere you need precision.

NARS Precision Lip Liner ($24) This is a lovely red rose colour from NARS. What is unique about their Precision Lip Liners is that they pair perfectly with a NARS lipstick of the same name. Rose Marocain is a great shade! NARS is sadly not cruelty-free so I won’t use this myself, but it’s great to see a high-value item like this!

Too Faced Killer Kajal 12 Hour Long Wear Intense Black Eyeliner ($23) Too Faced used to be one of my fave brands – they still are great, but back in the day I was obsessed. The Smoke Show kajal has been replaced by the Killer Kajal name, but they are essentially the same.

Swatches! This is the kajal eyeliner and the Marc Jacobs highlighter. I absolutely love how pigmented the highlighter is. I am pretty pink-toned but I find the subtle gold is a nice compliment to my skin (when applied lightly, not swatched so thick!)

As always, CBB is such a great mix of department store and drugstore brands. Some products are discontinued like the Too Faced liner but for me so long as everything smells fine and feels fine, it’s perfectly OK to use. I do wish that they were a bit more consistent with this but overall I find the value of CBB to be pretty good.

Chic Beauty Box is a bi-monthly subscription box that delivers high-end and low-end cosmetics to your door. They feature imagery of brands like NARS and MAC as well as Too Faced, Fenty Beauty, and Milani. The box is $34.99 CAD and you can also try a one-time box for $39.99.
