A monthly kids’ book subscription that encourages awareness of diverse cultures

Teaching kids about diverse cultures is a must, as it helps them grow to be good citizens of the world. With Little Feminist Book Club, parents can discover new books that reflect the diversity of people in our society – exposing children to traditions, perspectives, and experiences aside from their own. Awareness is the first step towards a better understanding, and this subscription’s kid-friendly book picks certainly make a good introduction.

Culturally inclusive books refer to titles that feature characters and stories from various cultures, races, religions, genders, and other identities. By sending such diverse books each month, this kids’ book subscription helps educate young readers on how to be empathetic and respectful of each other’s differences. Books are chosen based on your child’s age, making sure they won’t be overwhelmed and receive only what’s appropriate for them.

A subscription to Little Feminist Book Club costs $22.95 a month. Parents can also opt for a 3-month subscription ($21.95 a month), a 6-month subscription ($19.95 a month), or a 12-month subscription ($18.95 a month) to save more! Shipping to the US is $3.95 a month, while shipping to Canada, the UK, and Australia vary. Books are thoughtfully and carefully curated each month to capture each reader’s interest right from the start!

Little Feminist Book Club is a fun and convenient way to diversify your kid’s bookshelf. From books featuring protagonists of color to titles that tackle the unique experiences of another race or ethnicity, they open opportunities to increase cultural awareness with their book selections. I don’t even need to search every bookstore where we live because this book subscription delivers excellent, multicultural titles straight to our doorsteps!

Books featuring Ramadan, Diwali, Easter, Lunar New Year, Pride, and other important multicultural events are typically hard to find, as well as ones that celebrate family diversity. That is where Little Feminist Book Club comes in – they make sure we can get high-quality books with inclusive topics in our home library, so kids can reach for them anytime!

Of course, aside from selecting diverse books, they also do a great job of finding the appropriate books for each age range. Who? A Celebration Of Babies by Robie H. Harris ($8.90) and We Are Little Feminists: Celebrations by Brook Sitgraves Turner ($9.99), for instance, are culturally diverse board books for kids 0 to 2 years old. These books come with simple vocabulary words that babies and toddlers can easily follow. There are also rhymes throughout the pages to keep them engaged!

Meanwhile, books for ages 2 to 4 come with longer storylines, and one good example is Tofu Takes Time by Helen H. Wu ($14.99). It’s about a modern Chinese American family, and it honors cultural practices such as making traditional food and sharing family meals. It also tackles how patience brings a simple yet tasty dish to enjoy over the table. Kids love engaging stories about everyday life and this one fits the bill!

As for ages 4 to 7, they choose books that have quite an advanced vocabulary but are still focused on showcasing diversity, like A Sweet New Year for Ren by Michelle Sterling ($16.99)! This one has an appealing storyline about the togetherness of family and how Chinese people value their tradition of celebrating the Lunar New Year. For ages 7 to 9, book picks may include deeper, real-life topics and today’s social issues, like racism and prejudice.

What else is in every box aside from books? Each shipment comes with a family letter that briefly explains the book and why they chose to feature it. There are also discussion cards with follow-up questions to allow young readers to explore the topics even further. Plus, hands-on activities for extra fun!

The kids and I certainly love the book choices every month! They are age-appropriate, of great quality, and beautifully illustrated for a child’s enjoyment. The stories are multicultural and, of course, engaging – plus the kids learn something new every time. Everything is worthy of adding to our mini-home library. This subscription really is a great and convenient way to get books with diverse topics for kids to read and learn from!
