Themed The Vegan Starter Pack: 2023 Edition, January 2023 Vegancuts Snack Box had all kinds of snacks, from candy, to a drink, to salty chips, and more. Read on to see what I received!

DEAL: Use the coupon code hellosub to get $5 off your first box on any Vegancuts subscription!   It can only be used once per customer, but it can be used on multiple subscriptions at once so long as they are in the same transaction.

The card lists the snacks in the box. Please note that sometimes they send one of two snacks listed or you may receive one of several flavors available. Proceeds go to a charity that helps animals, like The Barnyard Sanctuary.

Poppi Orange Soda ($2.49) Please note that I dislike stevia and so this soda had an aftertaste that I didn’t like but the flavor overall was good, it tasted like diet orange soda but without the weird orange color. It’s supposed to provide probiotics for gut health to aid digestion and prevent bloating but sadly carbonated beverages may irritate those with IBS. The claims that this is healthier than soda seem a stretch but if you want a dye-free orange soda then it’s worth a try!

Outstanding Foods Pig Out Crunchies Sea Salt I try to think of this snack as a crunchy chip of some sort rather than a pork rind, although the flavor isn’t far from the original. These are lightly salted and have a great crunch, plus they have some texture thanks to the pea protein.

Hippeas Veggie Straws ($1.39 for similar product) I received a vegan sour cream and onion flavor version of these sturdy straws and I enjoyed both the flavor and the crunch. They have a little bit of protein thanks to the yellow pea flour base, plus one gram of fiber. Nutritionally these are similar to Wavy Lay’s potato chips with ranch flavor and in fact, this has less potassium and vitamin C, which just reminds me that this is a fun snack and not a health food, even though it has “veggie” in the name.

The Daily Crave Lentil Chips These remind me of Pringles except they taste better. I liked the snappy crunch and lightly salty flavor, kind of like sturdy ridged potato chips. They have lentil flour plus corn and rice flour and potato starch. Good flavor. Nutrition-wise, they are about the same as Lay’s except there’s slightly more protein.

Savor by Suzie Pretzels in Sea Salt Sometimes you just want a basic snack like a pretzel, and for those who prefer their snack grain-free then there is this version, which uses cassava flour and potato starch. The texture isn’t quite the same but it’s not off by much and it has the simple salted exterior of the original classic.

Koochikoo Lollipops ($5) I like the flavor of these lollipops, which have no added sugar or dyes and are flavored naturally. There are three swirled flavors to choose from and I savored one a night as an after-dinner treat.

Wiley Wallaby Hot Cinnamon Licorice ($2.40) If you like cinnamon red hots then this has that same fiery sweet flavor but in a chewy licorice form. I wasn’t a fan but then I’ve never liked licorice (it’s a texture thing) and while I used to chew Big Red gum, I had to stop when it left me with swollen cheeks. My daughter was home visiting and while she likes this brand, she wasn’t a fan of this flavor either. Please note that this is colored with red dye #40.

Blake’s Birthday Cake Crispy Treat This was a wonderful lunchtime treat! It’s sweet and then there are sunflower seeds and pepitas on top for extra crunch. This flavor was spot on and the texture was closer to homemade than the Rice Krispies packaged version.

Bakery on Main Monster Cookie Granola This brand shows up in every box. It’s good and sweet and perfect as either a trail mix straight out of the bag or layered with yogurt and fruit for a breakfast parfait.

Sunny Fruit Organic Tart Cherries If you like craisins then you will probably really like dried cherries. These are sweetened with apple juice and are plump like raisins but with a sweet and sour flavor.

Brothers Strawberry Fruit Crisps I ate these dried strawberries straight from the bag but I felt like they might be better sprinkled on yogurt or a dessert of some sort. They are made of freeze-dried strawberries and reminded me of astronaut ice cream!

That’s our Vegan Starter Kit, 2023 Edition done and wrapped! I enjoyed a soda, lollipops, dried fruit, and more. My favorite snack was the birthday cake crispy rice treat, so decadent and yet with a sprinkling of seeds for an interesting crunch. I also liked the dried cherries and the veggie straws and pretty much everything else! I always take the health-promoting claims with a grain of salt and just pull out a snack for whatever craving I’m having at the time, be it sweet or salty. I also appreciate that there are some nut-free snacks to take along when I sub at the school.
