The February 2023 box from My French Country Home arrived from France and it was wonderful! The theme was An American in Provence and inside I found a beautiful book, a delightful paperweight, and more. This box introduces us to the resident artist for 2023, Jamie Beck, and a few of the items feature her charming photography.
An American in Provence Book by Jamie Beck ($40 list price, currently $20.27 on Amazon) This book is from this year’s resident artist, Jamie Beck. This version includes a signed sticker on the inside by the author (which you probably won’t find on Amazon). The book has a little bit everything and is separated into the four seasons. There are recipes, essays, and photographs plus picture taking tutorials. Some pictures are of nature (the countryside or flowers), some are of the artist herself au naturel. Her adorable infant daughter is in here as well. It’s a beautiful book and I look forward to reading it and perusing the gorgeous photography. There’s even a ribbon bookmark to save your place.
Jamie Beck Drops of Provence Blush Rose Paperweight ($60) This is the coolest paperweight I’ve ever seen before. It’s crystal and has green velvet on the bottom so it won’t scratch furniture. Inside is a picture of the palest pink rose and the amazing thing is that it can be seen from any angle! If you are looking at it from above you might even be fooled into thinking there is a real rose inside. Even the box it came in is reusable and elegant.
Sezane Jewelry Box ($20 for similar) What a wonderful idea, a jewelry box that can travel! This box is around 3.5″ across and is covered in forest green velour. It has two zipper pulls and the inside is lined with linen. The tabs across the top can be unsnapped to load earrings and rings, while the bottom part has a drawstring closure.
Antique Timbale ($30 listed value) We always receive an antique item of some sort and this quarter it’s a silver timbale cup. Designs will vary between boxes. It is suggested that this might be perfect for holding a flower or mini bouquet, or maybe cotton balls on a vanity, or change near the front door.
Bohm Malina Necklace (25 euros, around $27 USD) Subscribers received one of three different colors for this necklace. The chain is about 15 inches long, the extender adds another 2″, for a total of around 17″. It’s dainty and adorable.
Thank You Gift: Terre Ugo Diffuser and Lavender Essential Oil (20.90 euros, around $22 USD) This is a brilliant idea and I wish I had known about this ceramic diffuser disc before, it works so nicely! You simply place a few drops of essential oil (either the lavender that was included or something else) to the disc and that is it, the natural scent wafts through the air like magic. You could place it in the car, a closet, a drawer, or you can do like me and leave it on your desk. I’ve never been to Provence but I can imagine myself there now!
Laboratories du Cap-Ferret Body Scrub (49 euros, around $52 USD) This luxurious body scrub had a unique texture that consisted of fine scrubbing grains encased in a squishy gel that turned milky when wet. Sunflower seed oil, glycerin, powdered apricot seed and hydrated silica, and more are listed and the scent is an interesting take on floral, unlike any perfume I’ve smelled before but not heavy or long-lasting. This is housed in a huge, heavy glass jar so I chose to scoop some into a plastic container before using it in the shower. A little goes a long way and it rinsed easily away.
Photo Print by Jamie Beck Each quarter we will receive a print (that doubles as a card, envelope included) from the resident artist, which is of course Jamie Beck for 2023. By the end of the year, you will have a curated collection suitable for framing, unless you send it on to a friend instead. The print/card is 8.25″ x 6″.
Gift Card One more item from Jamie Beck, and it’s a gift card for her website. It’s good for $20 off of a single order. Phone cases are $40-45, small posters are $35, and framed artwork tops out at $15,000. There are paperweights and stationery available too.
Yolaine Lip Mousse in Pivoine ($35) Here is another uniquely textured product. It’s a lip color and cheek tint in mousse form and a little goes a long way and spreads easily. The color may vary and I received Pivoine (peony), described as fresh pink.
Here’s the lip/cheek color swatched!
If you are looking for an upscale box with items that are both elegant and useful, then this is the box for you! I am always floored by the curation, and opening this box is truly a treat. In this case I could smell lavender when I untied the satin ribbon. Everything was a sight to behold, and flowers, always in season, featured prominently this time around. The book was lovely to look at, I’m going to try a couple of the recipes that I found. The paperweight is perfect for holding papers in place or just sitting in the middle of the living room table. I have discovered that my headache has passed after placing the lavender diffuser next to my desk. The other items were all wonderful in their own way, from the dual-use makeup item, to the necklace, to the silver cup, to the scrub, to the print, the hits keep coming! If you missed out then there are some boxes available in the My French Country Home online boutique, as well as the individual items, and you don’t have to worry about converting euros to dollars or paying several different shipping charges as you would if you purchased directly.
Here’s the product info guide, it looks like a magazine!
