Simply Earth December 2022 Essential Oil Box was themed Beauty! It included recipes and extras to make bath bombs, a shower spray, shower melts, and more. I also received three single oils and one blend to add to my collection (which I mainly use for diffusing). See what we got below!

Balsam Fir Essential Oil ($12.99) Balsam Fir has a fresh scent that reminds me of pine trees and it can be used as a deodorizer. It is also uplifting and may soothe joints when mixed with a carrier oil and rubbed on sore spots.

Bumps & Boo-Boos Essential Oil ($15.99) is a blend of tea tree, lemon, lavender, and helichrysum essential oils and may be used on minor skin irritations. It smells mostly of tea tree oil.

Geranium Essential Oil ($16.99) I’m familiar with the uniquely floral/herbal scent of this oil as it is frequently used in natural skin care products due to it’s purported anti-aging and skin boosting properties.

Lime Essential Oil ($10.99) Ahh, this one smells like freshly grated lime rind and it’s such a lovely, uplifting scent. It’s often used in cleaning combos and may keep bugs away.

Citric Acid ($2.99) and Ocean Blue Mica Powder ($2.99) plus the metal Bath Bomb Molds will be used, naturally, to make bath bombs. The Amber Spray Bottle ($2.99) will be used to hold a shower spray.

The pre-scored stickers are a cinch to use and now they have space to mark the production date.

I received six recipe cards. Some of the cards have a continuation of the recipe on the back while others have useful information about the subscription.

Below are a few of the projects I completed with this month’s recipe box and supplies!

Breath of Pine Shower Spray is as easy to make as pouring drops of oil into a bottle, topping it off with distilled water, and placing the sprayer lid on top. Simply spray it on shower walls to get an uplifting sniff of pine, I guess it’s like showering in a forest! The spray will last a few weeks as is, but if you want it to last longer you can add a solubilizer and a preservative, both available at the Simply Earth website for an additional cost.

The Christmas Vacation Diffuser Blend made my home smell like the holidays! I dropped the oils in my diffuser, added water, and that’s all folks!

I received a card that called the roller blend of the month Cheerful Giver, but the sticker says Christmas Day, which I believe is the correct name for this product. I grabbed a rollerball and fractionated (liquid) coconut oil from my Big Bonus Box. I added the essential oils as listed on the card and then topped it off with coconut oil before placing the cap back in place. It’s an amazing scent, with the balsam fir coming in strong and then the refreshing lime coming in second.

I haven’t made the bath bombs or shower melts. I simply don’t use bath bombs and I am worried about placing a shower melt made of coconut oil in my shower as I’m afraid it may clog my pipes. Otherwise, the recipes seem simple and may require some ingredients from home, specifically 99% isopropyl alcohol, which I don’t have on hand.

Simply Earth aims to help replace traditional beauty products with homemade versions using essential oils plus simple items you may have on hand already, like cornstarch and baking soda. I especially like getting this box mainly for the oils, which I diffuse as an alternative to air freshening sprays (like Febreze). I like learning about the oils and I find that the projects are easily completed. Every month we make a rollerball, which is another way I like to use oils, and I adore the diffuser recipes. Next month we’ll be making more beauty items and I’m very excited about what’s to come, simply because I’m more likely to use those products rather than bath bombs (but no spoilers other than that!).

Simply Earth is a monthly subscription that sends high-quality essential oils along with recipes and ingredients to make natural beauty and home products! Each box comes with 4 essential oils, containers, extra ingredients to make the recipes, and 5 – 7 recipes on recipe cards. When you sign up (and every 6 months thereafter) you will receive a free Big Bonus Box full of extra containers and ingredients needed for the recipes, such as carrier oils and bottles. Simply Earth is $39 a month. They feel strongly about giving back and donate 13% of all profits to help end human trafficking.

Simply Earth’s essential oil subscription made the list in our 2022 readers’ choice best green & eco-friendly subscription list!
