Kinder Beauty Box is a vegan beauty subscription box. This subscription sends out two variations every month and I received the HOLIBAE box for December (the other box was called the YOU SLEIGH box). I received a cleansing balm, mascara, and more! The difference between the HOLIBAE box and the YOU SLEIGH box is that the eyeshadow single comes in a different color and the sheet mask is anti-acne.

Flower Mill Balm Shell ($32) I really want to like this product. It smells wonderful and feels great on my skin, and in fact it can be used as a moisturizer. I just don’t feel like it’s doing the best job at removing my makeup. This isn’t one of those oil cleansers that turns milky and rinses away after applying water. This stays on the skin. Think of how your hands feel when you use solid coconut oil, or even solid vegetable oil (like Crisco). Then you go to wash your hands and that stuff doesn’t come off easily. Even with a double cleanse I still feel like it’s in my pores. I will use this as an undereye cream and will apply it to dry skin spots like my cuticles and elbows. Coconut oil is the first ingredient and the fragrance comes from essential oils.

100% Pure Does It All Sheet Mask ($7) This sheet mask is supposed to fix all kinds of skin issues, by brightening, boosting collagen, moisturizing, and even lessening fine lines. It had ingredients like aloe, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, sake, and caffeine and the scent comes from essential oils. Place on a clean face and leave it there for 20 minutes while you kick back and listen to some tunes or a podcast. You can pat any serum that’s leftover into skin afterwards.

Evo Beauty Helio Anti-Microbial Blender ($19.99) Makeup blenders are not things that I reach for regularly — I wear a powdered base and the majority of my makeup is powdered and when I receive a liquid or cream I tend to use my fingers or a brush to apply. Of course, that’s just my preference and I’m sure this has its benefits. I washed it before using and some of the color ran so I would suggest cleaning it so that the color won’t transfer to skin. It worked pretty much like any other beauty blender but will supposedly not mold as quickly, but then I’ve never had that happen with other brands either.

NOTE: The product information card showed a scalp scrub and not a mascara. According to Kinder Beauty, the scrub didn’t pass their quality check so they replaced it with the mascara.

Athr Beauty Big Bang Mascara ($14) I’m not going to wax poetic about mascara — as long as it makes my lashes noticeable then I’m happy using whichever brand is at hand. This one seemed thicker than what I normally use, and my results bore no resemblance to the models on the brand’s website, but otherwise I’m happy with the results.

Nomad Lodge Whistler Snow Lodge Intense Eyeshadow in Buck-ing Great ($12 listed value) This shade is a single from a 15-pan palette inspired by Whistler (a ski resort in Canada). This shade is described as “matte pine green” and has a rather intense color payoff. I used it in my crease (with a golden shimmer shade on my lids) and also used it as liner. I think I preferred it as liner, as the dark green shade was too much for my preferred day look, but as liner it lasted all day and highlighted my hazel eyes. It went on smoothly with minimal fall-out.

Here’s Buck-ing Great swatched!

Overall, this was a good box to end the year. I actually preferred a mascara to a scalp scrub but that’s only because I have a sensitive scalp. The eye shadow single was deep and perfect for a non-grey take on the smoky eye look. A sheet mask is a great opportunity to take a breather between activities, I don’t seem to get much done with a mask on my face! The beauty sponge is helpful for applying makeup or erasing mistakes, and while I didn’t care for using the cleansing balm to remove makeup, I thought it was a good fit for my under eye area and since I like the smell so much then I actually enjoy applying it to my dry cuticles. I look forward to seeing what Kinder Beauty Box brings us in the new year!
