“Outside of my grandmother, a lot of my designs are inspired by old Hollywood,” says Dime. “The Supremes, Cicely Tyson, women that admire, all the greats.” With those inspirations in mind, Dime started her design process by exploring colorways she wanted to choose. Then she worked with her graphic designer to help execute her vision. The goal: flow. “I wanted the designs to feel like your following towards love, life, peace, and self-love.”
“I think with it being Black History Month, I wanted it to signify how much self-love is important to us as a people and our survival,” she adds, which is where the moniker “Self-Love Is the Best Love” embossed on the bag comes into play. “I feel like in today’s time, we don’t use enough of our time to focus on ourselves and focus on healing, so I wanted to remind us that self-love is the only way to love others and the world.”
