The December 2022 Cloth & Paper theme was Reflection and came with an archival storage box, a moon-like paperweight, and more! If you are new to this box then know that they have a few different subscription options, and you can choose planner sizes based on the planner you use at home or work. This is a review of their Penspiration AND Planning + Stationery combo, which is $54.99 a month and drops to as low as $50 a month when you choose the 6-month term. (Please note that the picture above is of BOTH boxes combined!)

Planning + Stationery Box

The card shows all of the items in the Planning + Stationery Box and has a picture of the items on the other side. The items were tucked into a reusable planner protector pouch with a drawstring closure (so it would work well as a makeup or toiletries bag, or maybe as a jewelry pouch).

Here are all the items in the Planning + Stationery Box!

Paper Weight This super simple paperweight (it’s a piece of concrete or ceramic I think) reminds me of the moon, or possibly the Death Star! It’s hefty enough to keep papers in place.

Storage Book Insert Archive This is a fabric-covered box that can be used to store all kinds of things, like an old planner, pens, page flags, notebooks, etc. The last picture above is a cloth pouch that all of the items were placed in. I think this was the second month in a row that it has appeared and it has a drawstring top and could hold pens, page flags, notepads, etc.

Eudaimonia Dashboard The word on this dashboard translates to “well-being” or a state of happiness. The dashboard can be placed in a planner to separate the various sections.

Note To Self is a very generously sized pad, 8.5″ x 5″, that is perfect for jotting down notes or lists. I’m a big list maker so this is perfect for keeping on my kitchen table or bedside to note those last-minute ideas or even my grocery list and menu.

Luxe Page Flag Record and Aspen Circle Page Flags The main way I use page flags is to keep track of recipes I want to try when paging through a cookbook. Of course, I’ve also used them to keep track of pages I frequently need in my planner as well, and they can be helpful when reading textbooks.

Focus Quote Card and Trouvaille Quote Card These cards can be used in the planner but you need some way to fix them in place, either by using paperclips or by way of a card holder insert. I tend to use them as bookmarks.

January Pop Up Calendar We used to get a small clear calendar card but I prefer this paper pop-up version to set on my desk. I know it’s supposed to sit flat but I left it this way because I thought it was visually interesting.

Greeting Cards We received a set of 15 notecards and envelopes that have a simple scrawled word across the front. There are 5 of each type, and the words are in French and they say one of these three sentiments: “merci” (thank you), bonjour” (hello or good day), or “pensant a vous” (thinking of you).

Reflection Insert This insert has 20 pages total and is undated. It’s a place to note our goals and accomplishments and since it has quarterly boxes it could serve as an inspiration on where to go in the future (in case you don’t want to worry about the past).

Penspiration Box

Here’s everything in the Penspiration Box!

Penspiration Card and Pen Test Sheet The Penspiration Card can be used for journaling and has a prompt and plenty of space for a response. The Pen Test Sheet is a place where I write something using all of the pens from this box, which you can see below.

Undated Calendar Card can be used however and whenever you wish.

Today Sticky Notes The sticky notes usually have some kind of illustration on them and this is no exception. There are 50 notes on this 3″ x 3″ pad.

Various Pens If you want the specifics on each of these pens then they can be found on the Cloth & Paper unboxing page at their website. All of this month’s pens have a 0.5mm nib. Three of them have black ink, one has blue ink, and one has yellow ink. Three have clicky tops and two have twisty bottoms.

Cloth & Paper is a wonderful subscription for those who want to receive high-quality stationery items with a subdued yet elegant appearance, as most items are in black, white, shades of grey, and a few subtle hints of color. The pens are my favorite part, although I appreciate all of the sticky notes and notepads too. Each month we receive a new insert and this month it was about reflecting on the past while preparing for the future. The paperweight was interesting and might even be something that gets co-workers to stop at your desk for a chat because it is pretty interesting and I would want to know more about it if I saw one lying there!
