Simply Earth August 2022 essential oil box was themed Candle Artisan and had recipes and extras for making a rollerball, wax melts, and more. They also sent 3 single oils and one blend to add to my collection (which I mainly use for diffusing). See what we got below!

NOTE: Please keep in mind that these oils need to be diluted before using and should not be used by pregnant or nursing women or on children under age 2. Be careful when using around older children and pets. If you have further questions, please contact your health care provider. These oils and recipes are not meant to replace medical care when needed. They are fun to use and may help replace traditional products if you prefer to use more natural options.

Blood Orange Essential Oil ($9.99) Like all citrus oils this one smells fresh and uplifting, like I just peeled an orange! It may help boost the immune system and it may relieve anxiety.

Fir Needle Essential Oil ($11.99) Here is another mood lifter that smells like freshly crushed fir needles. It also may boost the immune system and help with digestion.

Peppermint Essential Oil ($12.99) Peppermint is probably my most favorite scent out of all of the oils, body products, gum, etc. out there. Talk about uplifting, this one makes me feel like I’m floating on a cloud! It may boost energy and support the immune system (I’m seeing that most of this month’s oils have similar purposes).

Liquid Luck Essential Oil ($12.99) This oil is a contradiction, both uplifting and calming! If you love fall and winter and the spices that go along with that time of the year then this blend is for you (and I love it!). It is a mix of amyris, cassia, ho wood, and sweet orange and smells a lot like cinnamon (thanks to the cassia). This will be lovely in the diffuser all on its own but of course it can be used in a room spray or cleaning mix.

Beeswax Sheets ($4.99) There are 3 candle activities this month that require beeswax sheets plus candle wick.

Small Silicone Leaf Molds ($2.99) These molds are so tiny and will be used to max wax melts to be used in a wax warmer.

The sticker sheet is pre-scored and there is now a place to note the date you made the products so you can keep track and dispose of them when their time is up.

There were 6 recipes cards and if you need further help then check out the Simply Earth YouTube channel, they make videos of themselves making all of the recipes.

Some of the cards will have the recipe continue on the back while others have information about the subscription.

Below are some of the projects that I completed using this month’s recipes, oils, and supplies!

I think Liquid Luck makes a great scent all by itself but here I combined it with all of this month’s oils in my diffuser. I really enjoyed this combo, which was warm but also uplifting thanks to the peppermint and sweet orange.

Next I made the rollerball blend. I placed the label on a rollerball container from my Big Bonus Box. I placed the essential oil drops in the bottle and then topped it off with fractionated coconut oil, which was also from the Big Bonus Box. I made sure the rollerball top was pushed all the way in and then gave it a good shake and there you have it, a mood boosting roll-on that smells amazing!

Now onto the Liquid Luck Wax Tarts. I gathered the supplies I needed, some from this month’s box and some from the Big Bonus Box. I placed the beeswax and solid coconut oil in a glass bowl and microwaved it for 20 seconds. I gave it a stir and then heated it once again. The oil was melted but the beeswax wasn’t so I kept heating in 20 second intervals until the wax, when stirred, was completely melted. I lost track but it was under 2 minutes total (you could also use a double boiler). When it was completely melted I added the Liquid Luck drops and then poured into the leaf molds (there was a lot of mixture left over so if you have another mold hanging around then keep it handy). I gave it a few hours to solidify and popped out those adorable little leaves and they smell just like fall. I don’t have a wax warmer (I prefer diffusing or burning candles) but my daughter has my old wax warmer with her at college so when we visit for a football game next month then I will pass these on to her, I know she will love them too.

The final project I attempted was Rolled Beeswax Tapered Candle. I placed a wax sheet on the counter and then put some essential oil drops on a cotton ball and tried rubbing it on (but the cotton shredded) so I had to dab it on instead. Next I placed the wick and trimmed it and tried to roll up the wax, which kept cracking. I tried to use the heat from my hands to seal the cracks but the finished product wasn’t all that cute. Maybe I can try zapping it with my blow dryer?

The activities in this month’s recipe box from Simply Earth were simple to complete and didn’t require anything from my home except a cotton ball (unless you don’t have candle holders, like me). I was pleased with three of the recipes I tried but the candle was, um, unique? I was happy with all of the oils and most especially the Liquid Luck blend, it smells so good to me, like fall and spice and happiness and all of the things.
