The August 2022 box from My French Country Home is here and once again it has a magnificent theme – Un Été en France, or Summer in France! This is one of the fancier subscription boxes out there and they send items made exclusively in France, and in fact, it ships directly from that country too! Check out the items I received, including four beautiful dessert plates and a body oil that makes me look like I’ve been to the Riviera – see the review below!
Voila Shimmer Hair & Body Oil (Around $28) What a beautiful shimmering oil, and it can be used on the body or hair! It has sunflower and argan oils plus something shimmery that gives skin a warm glow, like I just spent a day at the beach but without the burn. It has a lovely light fragrance that is supposed to smell like orange blossoms and it isn’t overwhelming. What a wonderful body oil! (I applied the oil over 12 hours ago after I showered and it is evening and I can still see the shimmer, but my skin is glistening rather than giving off disco ball sparks).
L’Auguste Provence Lavender Sachet ($17) Look at how enchanting this sachet is, with its lovely watercolor print, authentic natural lavender scent, and adorable box. It’s about 2.5″ x 2.5″. Right now it’s sitting on my desk so I breath deeply of it when needed but it could also be placed in a lingerie drawer or in the car as an air freshener.
Vintage Cake Forks ($55) This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a cake fork (also called a pastry fork) and I must say these look unlike any fork I’ve ever seen in my lifetime (and I’ve even been to France!). The tine on the left is notched to perform as a sort of knife when eating a cake, which I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around since the cakes I tend to eat are fork tender (although I can see how it might be helpful when eating piecrust).
Fabienne De La Croix Watercolor Painting Each box includes an exclusive print that can be framed or sent in a matching envelope to someone else. The same artist is featured for an entire year so that you will have a cohesive collection if you choose to mount them on a wall. It measures about 8″ x 6″ and is printed on sturdy cardstock.
Beauvillé St. Tropez Placemats & Napkins (Around $14.50 each for the placemats, around $15.60 each for the napkins) These placemats and napkins will dress up the table when my husband and I dine there in the evening. The placemats are made of 100% cotton and have a striking green design, and there were two in the box and they measure 19″ x 15″. I also received two coordinating cotton napkins that measure 20″ x 20″ and these will make mealtimes a special occasion even if it’s just Thursday.
Degrenne Dessert Plates (Around $62) This is such a delightful set of salad/dessert plates and each one has a different fruit to celebrate a different season! I love all fruits but am especially partial to figs, which represent autumn in this set. The plates are 7.5″ inches across and if you like this then just know that there is a set of vegetable plates available at the brand’s website too!
Hedene Lavender Honey (Around $14) I don’t usually notice if honey has a scent but upon opening this jar I was greeted with the lovely scent of lavender, just a natural, light floral/herbal essence to give this honey a heavenly effect. The honey is creamy but not crystalized and I don’t think I’ve ever tasted such exquisite honey before this one. I add it to herbal tea or drizzle it on yogurt parfaits and this is seriously going to elevate the experience (if I don’t eat it straight from the jar first).
Yummmm! It’s like honey and lavender blossom-flavored caramel!
Charvet Editions Reversible Beach Bag ($65) We’ve linked to a similar product, but this print is exclusive to My French Country Home Box so if you want this exact bag (or any of the other items from this subscription) then you can purchase it directly from their online shop. The bag is made of cotton and linen and is perfect for my next phase, I’m going to start shopping for Coastal Grandmother clothing designs and this bag has nailed the look (and no I’m not a grandmother). It’s even machine washable. Although the tops are folded I quickly learned that they don’t stay that way when you hold the handles. You can flip the bag inside out, there’s just a small MFCH tag on the inside. I have been looking for a new tote and here it is!
Here’s the product info guide, it looks like a magazine!

My French Country Home always, always comes up with a stunning box full of items that are practical, usable, and interesting. I had never heard of a pastry fork but now I’m the owner of 4, and they pair beautifully with the salad/dessert plates. The placemats and napkins add some style to our dinners and the sachet smells like a walk in Provence (or what I would imagine that might smell like anyways). The honey is exquisite and the body oil smells lovely and makes my skin glow like I’m being gilded by a sunset. The tote will be used again and again and I haven’t decided if I want to mail the card to someone or frame it for my living room wall. This is a well-curated box that doesn’t seem to suffer from shipping problems or holdups, possibly because everything is made in France and in fact the box is shipped directly from that country.

I have my family’s sterling silver place settings and small forks are designed like these in the picture. I always thought they looked different.
I agree with you.
Wow. I love the box. Don’t love the price, though.
