My Purple Harmony Pillow Review

A couple of months ago, I needed new pillows – again! My pillows were flat and my back was super grumpy, and no amount of fluffing would revive my pillows. I looked at my usual go-tos (in the past, I’ve purchased pillows from Costco and Sam’s Club) and then I realized with the amount of money I’ve spent on fresh pillows, I should probably consider shopping for a more expensive pillow that was likely to last longer. I have a king size bed and these puppies are expensive (even the cheap pillows!). I started an extensive search. Should I get down pillows? No, husband has allergies! Down alternative – they seem to get flat. I tried SlumberCloud (I’m a hot sleeper) but it wasn’t really ultra cooling and it flattened within days. I decided that foam was the way to go. I strongly considered the Casper foam pillow but opted for Purple’s instead, because of its unique height option. It checks all the boxes for me – durable and long-lasting, the right height, cooling, and hypoallergenic, too!

Purple is best known for its GelFlex grid mattresses, but they also offer other comfort solutions that can help you have a good night’s sleep like pillows, cushions, bases, sheets, and more! In this review, I tried their Harmony Pillow. This unique pillow is engineered with the same cushioning technology as their popular mattresses! Purple’s pillows are obviously not a subscription – but I do love to share other products that I have tried!

There are two pillow sizes available: Standard ($179) and King ($219). Based on your sleep preference, you can also pick which pillow height is ideal for you: Low (5.5″), Medium (6.5″), and Tall (7.5″). I have the King size one, weighing 7 lbs with measurements of 34″ x 17″ x 7.5″, with a Tall height. This is one hefty pillow!

The brand also provides a 100-night trial that begins the day it is delivered to your door. It didn’t take me more than a night to fall in love, but at the time of this review, I can tell you I’ve been sleeping on this pillow for over two months, and it’s absolutely everything I wanted in a pillow. Purple recommends giving it 30 days to see how you like it.

Harmony Pillow – Tall, King Size ($219) Gulp. I’m here telling the internet I spent $219 on a pillow! I did get a discount of 10% when buying two, but this may be one of my priciest purchases of all time, and it’s what I spent my Christmas money from my folks on (they still send it!). It was worth every penny, considering the sleep, neck, and back benefits – and the fact that I don’t think I’m going to need to replace it quite as often as my flat pillows. I should also note that I’m a side sleeper, and I think the Tall pillow is only suitable for people that sleep on their sides. It would be too tall for back sleepers. The standard size is $179.

Get the low height if you:

• are a very large-sized person

The Harmony pillow was thoughtfully packaged and delivered to our home in a box. You can see the branding was sewn on the side of the pillow cover.

It has a moisture-wicking mesh cover that helps keep you cool all night, while sleeping. It is breathable and pretty stretchy too! There was no smell, but I could see how this cover could pull or snag easily.

Beneath the cover is the grid hex gel layer, followed by Talalay latex core flex foam that adjusts and supports both the neck and the head. It provides ventilation with its mesh cover and airy grid combination, allowing you to fall asleep quickly and comfortably. I don’t notice the hex pattern when I lay down on it at all. The hex gel 100% non-toxic, GelFlex Grid material is CleanAir GOLD and CertiPUR-US certified and the pillow itself is designed to be hypoallergenic – perfect for my husband’s allergies!

My daughter tried lying on top of the pillow and felt cozy enough. She’s almost just the same size as the Harmony Pillow.

The next thing she did was sit on it. She enjoyed how soft it adapts to her position. After staying in that position, I noticed there’s no trace of body heat left on the surface! Given the amount of time she sat on the pillow, that’s a good thing. I took this picture so you can see how tall it stays when there’s weight on it.

It doesn’t fall flat either, thanks to the power of the Talalay latex core and purple grid hex. The pillow kept its shape, and I was just as excited as she was to try sleeping on it.

The height of the tall pillow is about 7.5 inches, and it is best used by side or combination sleepers, with average to larger frames.

The box also included a product pamphlet with details about your pillow. It lists the benefits of using the Purple Harmony pillow, and we couldn’t say less!

Is Purple Worth it?

My daughter approved of the new pillow, and so far, I do too. I woke up the next morning feeling recharged, without any discomfort in my neck, and that shows a good start! Again, after two months, I’m really happy with this choice. I prefer a taller pillow because that’s what makes me comfortable, and this Harmony pillow improved the quality of my sleep. I no longer wake up in the middle of the night trying to fluff up the pillow. Plus, it’s cool on the head. I’ll have regained all those sleepless nights I had!

Is it just me? Nope! My husband is in love with his Purple pillow too. My husband took his on a recent car trip, because he didn’t want to be without it – despite the 7-pound weight! We had to share a full-size bed, and we just shared the pillow, which was easy, because it doesn’t collapse.

If you like a very soft collapsible pillow, this is not the pillow for you. Purple does have other models of pillows for those with different preferences, including squishy down alternatives. If you want a firm pillow to support your sleep, especially if you’re a side sleeper, I couldn’t recommend it more.
