My Modern Mammals Review

Modern Mammals is a male grooming DTC company that offers a hair rinse subscription for men. Their made-in-the-USA, vegan hair rinse is aloe-based, so it isn’t as harsh as regular shampoo and conditioner but leaves the scalp and their hair squeaky clean.

Tip: Use just like shampoo, but spread it in your hands first. Expect a week or two for your hair to adjust to a less oily cycle.

Easy Rinse ($22) is a good alternative to regular shampoo and conditioner. It’s a hair rinse formulated to help bring back the hair’s natural balance and to soothe the scalp. Shampoo and conditioner work to strip the hair clean and then coat it to make it look shiny, but this hair rinse doesn’t disturb the pH balance. It doesn’t lather either, but it’s okay because lathering detergents have the tendency to be drying. There’s no need to use a conditioner after, because it’s already packed with moisture and protects the hair’s strength and texture.

Ingredients include hydrating aloe vera, detoxifying activated charcoal, and vitamin E, which fights free radicals. The formula is also free of sulfates, parabens, and silicones. If your hair is prone to flaking, this is a good alternative because it helps improve the hair’s natural moisture! It’s designed for men, but it may also work for everyone else. The feel you get when you use it gives a sort of naturally-moisturized-by-your-own-scalp feel, which is less dry than a normal shampoo. It may take a couple of weeks to get used to it.

Ingredients: Organic Aloe Vera Juice, Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Emulsifying Wax NF, Activated Charcoal, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Rosemary Extract, DL Panthenol, Natural Slippery Elm Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Peppermint Essential Oil, and d’Alpha Vitamin E oil

Modern Mammals encourages us to reuse the bottle. They offer refill pouches, so it’s easy to replenish the contents. Just in case it needs to be disposed of, recycling the bottle is also easy because it’s made from HDPE plastic – one of the most easily recyclable and sustainably used plastics. The pouch will refill your bottle four times! A little goes a long way with this product, and I think the entire bottle will last me about two months.

The rinse has a greyish/silverish color with a paste-like texture. It doesn’t sud or lather like regular shampoos, but it surprisingly works better. It also smells fresh and mild, and isn’t overwhelming!

Is Modern Mammals worth it?

Modern Mammals provides a better and easier way to take care of men’s hair. Compared to regular shampoos and conditioners, this hair rinse has a gentle formula that doesn’t dry out the hair and the scalp – and I’m all for the one and done! There’s no greasy residue either and after use, my hair just feels clean and refreshed with volume! Even the scent is great because it isn’t too overpowering. If you choose to get the subscription, you’ll never forget about replenishing your hair rinse because it will come to your door on a schedule. It might be pricier than its counterparts but it’s worth it if you want healthy-looking hair, and you really don’t need a lot to get clean. It’s radically less expensive than Hairstory, so if you’re thinking about testing out something in the “not shampoo” category, this might be your best bet!

All About Modern Mammals

Modern Mammals offers a better alternative to shampoo and conditioner, an all-in-one product that keeps men’s hair in its natural flow and provides a healthy scalp in the long run. There’s no suds and no rich lather, but it still makes every day a good hair day.

How does Modern Mammals work?

Modern Mammals only has one product in their line to focus solely on delivering the best results! Some shampoos can be too harsh for the hair and scalp, but you can rely on Easy Rinse to bring out your hair and scalp’s natural balance. You can opt in for a one-time purchase or a subscription to get deliveries every 60, 90, or 180 days. There’s also an option to pick an 8 oz bottle or a 32 oz refill pouch and the quantity for every delivery. Although they do not accept returns or refunds, you can cancel the subscription through your Modern Mammals account.

How much does Modern Mammals cost?

Modern Mammals Easy Rinse costs $26 for an 8 oz bottle and $80 for the 32 oz refill pouch, whether for a one-time purchase or on a subscription. The 32 oz pouch can fill 4x and costs $20 per refill. The shipping fee is $2 for every order.

Where can I buy Modern Mammals?

Purchase Easy Rinse directly from the Modern Mammals website! The site is pretty straightforward, so there aren’t any confusing buttons to click on. Just head to their shop, decide whether you want a one-time purchase or a subscription, which one you need (8 oz bottle or 32 oz pouch), and the delivery frequency (60, 90, or 180 days), then add it to your cart. Supply them with your shipping information and payment details, and you are all done!

Where and how does Modern Mammals ship?

Modern Mammals ships only to the United States, which includes military addresses, including Armed Forces America, Armed Forces Europe, and Armed Forces Pacific. They also ship to American Samoa, Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, and Palau. Orders are usually processed the same day or within 24 hours of ordering and typically takes 2-7 days to arrive, depending on your location.

How is Modern Mammals packaged?

If you opt in for the 8 oz bottle, your Easy Rinse will come in a bottle made of HDPE plastic, one of the most easily recyclable materials and sustainably used plastics. If you choose the 32 oz pouch, you’ll get the product in a pouch with a spout so you can easily squeeze the formulation out and transfer it to the bottle conveniently. The pouch can fill up to 4 bottles, which lasts about 2, 3, or 6 months depending on how much you use it.

What products does Modern Mammals sell?

Modern Mammals is solely focused on single-routine hair care. They only offer one product because they want to provide men with the best hair care possible without complicated steps and harsh chemicals. Easy Rinse is an all-in-one cleanser that replaces your shampoo and conditioner. Although not as satisfying as shampoos that lather, the Easy Rinse formula has a paste-like texture that removes grime without stripping the hair’s natural oils. The product is created with lots of moisture and better performing ingredients that absorb into the hair and scalp. It cleans the hair while preserving its strength and texture at the same time. It doesn’t contain any of the bad stuff, like parabens and sulfates that ruin the hair’s natural balance.

Available add-ons include a head scrubber ($22) for massaging the scalp while showering, a wide-toothed comb ($22) for taming the hair, and a Modern Mammals hat ($22) so you can cover your head for the days you don’t shower. You can also get them as a set for a discount, priced at $50 in all.
