Outdoor Fellow produces candles with scents inspired by the great outdoors, and they have several subscription plans that are perfect for you or for gifting to someone else (hmm, like maybe dads, grandpas, co-workers, etc.). You don’t have to be a male to appreciate the scents, but if you aren’t a fan of candles that seem better suited to a boudoir (especially florals) then consider trying candles from this brand. See the scents I received below, but also know that you can request certain candles if you like during checkout. These candles are made with a coconut wax blend, phthalate-free fragrance, and should burn for 40-50 hours, plus, 5% of proceeds support The Trust for Public Land.

Outdoor Fellow Mountain Forest Scented Candle ($36) This was my first time trying candles from Outdoor Fellow, and I was excited to see the scent offerings because I prefer my candles to smell like a smoky library, or maybe a campfire, or something else that seems woodsy and yes, outdoorsy. Some of the scent notes here are herbs, leather, cedar, and musk. Check out the glass jars, they are reusable as drinks glasses!

This candle is inspired by a trip to the St. Regis Canoe Area in the Adirondack Mountains.  Cedarwood and Musk are sweetened with Neroli for a refreshing green note with a hint of spice. Leather and floral accords waft through the breezy air and are brightened by the hint of nearby herbs truly capture the scent of this beautiful area.

Outdoor Fellow Pepper + Orange Scented Candle ($36) I think this was my favorite of the three candles! It is fruity, sure, but there’s a depth to it that doesn’t come from some of those store-bought candles out there. Some of the scents notes here are tangerine zest, cassis, chili and ground peppers, and musk.

Black Pepper and Valencia Orange combine to create a bright and citrusy beginning that evolves into spicy, uplifting scent that gets more invigorating as it burns.

Outdoor Fellow Tomato Vine Scented Candle ($32) It is eerie how much this smells like an actual tomato vine! This would make an excellent gift for any gardener in your life, they will instantly be transported to a backyard garden, even if they live in a high-rise apartment. Some of the additional scent notes here are lemon, basil, and star jasmine but I’m telling you, it smells like a tomato vine!

Inspired by a backyard garden, this candle smells like ripe tomato plants with added notes of basil and lemon zest to create a beautiful, green, herby scent.

I thought the candles from Outdoor Fellow had wonderful scents and I could smell them while they were burning, they had good hot throw, and yet they weren’t overwhelming to my senses. The candles I received didn’t smell “manly”, but they did smell a little sweet, warm, with a hint of floral, and like their namesakes. Outdoor Fellow is for anyone who appreciates a candle that isn’t overly feminine or floral. They would make a great gift and I think it’s wonderful that you can request scents that you want for your shipments. I think I would go for Fireplace & Clove or Woods, they sound especially warm and comforting. Don’t forget, the glasses can be cleaned out and reused as drinking glasses, I love that idea!
