The February Vegancuts Beauty Box is here with items to help us pamper ourselves with some “me” time now that the holiday rush is over. I received four items that all treat a different body part, from head to toe.

DEAL: Use the coupon code hellosub to get $5 off your first box on any Vegancuts subscription!   It can only be used once per customer, but it can be used on multiple subscriptions at once so long as they are in the same transaction

There was a card that says we are supporting animals at Morningside Farm Sanctuary. Check out that llama’s smile!

The back of the card lists the items and retail value. The theme is Valen-time to yourself!

My beauty box ships with my snack box and the beauty items are kept separate in a linen bag.

The Humble Co. Humble Brush Bamboo Toothbrush ($2.99) I haven’t received a toothbrush in a box in a while. I usually use a rechargeable brush but this will be great for traveling. The brush I received was listed as “adult sensitive” and the bristles felt very soft, and the head is much smaller than my usual, which is also a plus because I have a small mouth (according to several dentists I’ve seen throughout my life). The handle is made of bamboo and the bristles are nylon. I think I prefer stiffer bristles but it may help those with sensitive gums. Again, I’m happy with the brush head size, it doesn’t trigger my gag reflex.

Natura Ekos Castanha Nourishing Foot Cream ($18) Oh, this is a nice foot cream! It is buttery in texture and I would describe the scent as “spa-like”, it has a hint of earthy floral but isn’t super girly. It has both cupuacu and castanha (Brazil nut) butters to deeply moisturize the feet but it’s not super greasy. You can rub the excess product onto the knees or elbows if you need a little extra help in those areas.

Nuria Defend Skin Restoring Serum ($32) The main player in this gel-like serum is carrot seed oil, which is supposed to be a powerful antioxidant and the beauty secret of women in Asia. It’s supposed to protect the skin’s barrier while reducing fine lines and wrinkles and brightening skin. It doesn’t feel oily, and some of the other ingredients are rooibos extract and hyaluronic acid. I’m probably a broken record at this point but I don’t understand why this has to have added fragrance, it smells very floral and has the potential to irritate skin, which means the barrier is actually compromised and then redness, irritation, etc. will follow. On the plus side, I guess it doesn’t smell like carrots, which is odd because carrot oil has a rather distinct scent but it’s missing here. Also, it is completely clear, and I would expect something that lists carrot seed oil as the third ingredient to have some sort of colorful tinge to it.

Shampoo Bar Superzero for Normal to Oily Hair ($7) I’ve tried this shampoo bar before and was happy to receive another one, especially since I have fine hair and this doesn’t weigh it down. It is super easy to use, just wet hair, pass the bar over it a few times, and voila, tons of suds that rinse away easily. If you’re not feeling it for your hair then try using it to wash your makeup brushes! Keep it out of the water between uses to help it last longer. It has a smell that I will describe as the Whole Foods beauty section, it’s low-key but also pleasant.

I thought the February Vegancuts Beaut Box had some helpful self-care items. The shampoo worked really well for my hair type while the foot cream was amazing, it’s rather soothing to massage my feet and then hop into bed. The face serum was strong in the scent department but the toothbrush was a good sustainable product as the handle can be composted (but the head needs to be cut off and discarded in the trash but has a smaller waste footprint) and the packaging is recyclable. The value for this box is around $60.
