The Winter 2022 Merkaela Deluxe Box is here and just in time to help me reduce stress as I attempt to do things like my taxes, dealing with an ongoing pandemic, and other everyday types of pressures that we all must deal with. In this box, I received a spicy tea, an uplifting jar of bath salts, and nourishing body butter. Read on to see why Merkaela is one of my favorite subscription boxes!

Evergreen Forest Salt & Herbal Soak ($14) If you have a stuffy nose due to allergies or a virus, then a soak in the tub with these bath salts just might give you some relief. It’s made with four different salts: Mediterranean, Himalayan, Epsom, and Dendritic, plus a eucalyptus essential oil blend, which I think may have some lemongrass or citronella, it smells a little like natural bug repellent. Hmm, maybe it’s lemon eucalyptus? Anyways, it has that sinus-opening effect and also smells of something warm and green. It may help relieve sore muscles too.

Nourishing Cypress Body Butter ($40) Merkaela makes some super luxurious body butters, they feel very nourishing on my skin. This one is made with a variety of oils and butters like shea, jojoba, rice, babassu, hemp, and moringa and it’s scented with essential oils including calendula and cypress. It starts to melt as soon as you remove it from the jar and has a light herby scent that fades quickly.

Ardor Meditation Elixir ($18.50) If you are wanting to increase your passion for a project, whether at work or just to clean the house, try spritzing some of this around your body, over your head, and around the room. It smells like cinnamon and has a hint of woodiness, but is as fleeting as my desire to do housework. It’s made of water, alcohol, Himalayan salt, and rosemary essential oil blend.

Charcoal Handmade Soap ($9.50) I love Merkaela’s soaps, they lather well, rinse clean away, and although they have a natural, pleasant scent, the fragrance doesn’t linger, which makes these a favorite of mine for use in the kitchen. One bar will last for around 3 months when I use it this way.

Spicy Chai Herbal Tea ($8.50) Here is an herbal tea to sip anytime but is especially calming in the evening because it doesn’t have any actual tea leaves and is caffeine-free. Cinnamon and cardamom are listed, as are ginger and black pepper, and I’m sure if it was any more finely ground you could use it to season pumpkin pie. I was super happy with the flavor after steeping, it was full of soul-warming goodness but it wasn’t bitter and needed no sugar. If you wanted to make traditional chai, I would suggest simmering 1 teaspoon of this with a black tea bag or 1 teaspoon of loose-leaf black tea and 1/2 cup of water, and 1/2 cup of milk. Strain after 5 minutes and sweeten to taste with sugar, honey, or whatever you usually use.

Merkaela always sends a box full of pleasurable items that soothe my body and mind. The products are relaxing and they help me care for myself, whether that means sitting quietly with a warm drink, soaking in a tub full of heavenly bath salts, or treating my arms and legs to a super-rich body butter. I enjoy listening to the playlists on Spotify and placing the mantra card where I can see it and take action (picture below). Merkaela has several different subscription options so check them out and see if they can help you take your self-care to a new height.
