The January/February See New, The Skincare Box sent me on a little tropical vacation with four products from Honua Hawaiian Skincare! I received a cool blue beauty balm, bright red hydration booster, plus a facial mist and SPF cream to round out the box. This line is a feast for the senses!

This is a review of The Skincare Box, which includes 4-5 products so you can get a real feel for the brand, and also it is just about a whole routine in one box. You can purchase past boxes in the online shop, which also has makeup, hair care, and lots of other items too.

Honua Hawaiian Skincare Lihau Facial Mist ($18) I tend to spray on a facial mist and then immediately follow it with a face oil to (hopefully) lock in extra moisture. Of course, a spritz during the day is nice too and tends to revive me when my energy is sagging. This mist has aloe, sandalwood water, witch hazel, sodium hyaluronate, and more and is supposed to tone, hydrate, and tighten the skin. It has an earthy scent and kind of reminds me of tea!

Honua Hawaiian Skincare Malu SPF 30 Protecting Day Cream ($76) One thing I look for in a sunscreen is the drug facts label – if that is missing, then how can it even be sunscreen? Fortunately, this one is the real deal and uses non-nano zinc to reflect the sun’s rays. Some of the other ingredients in here are sodium hyaluronate, oat bran extract, and aloe. It has essential oils for scent, with jasmine being the strongest note. It goes on smoothly and didn’t leave a white cast on my skin. I’m not sure I would use this for a day at the beach but I’m ok with wearing it under my makeup if I plan on being inside most of the day.

Honua Hawaiian Skincare Hibiscus Beauty Booster ($54) This serum is made with hibiscus, sodium hyaluronate, and astaxanthin, which just so happens to be an antioxidant. The product is supposed to help keep skin hydrated and fight off inflammation while performing plumping and brightening duties. It should be used after cleansing and followed with moisturizer or serum/oil and then with sunscreen. It has a thin gel texture and I’m not a fan of the scent, it reminds me of those little red eggs my dad would use when fishing, but it fades quickly.

Honua Hawaiian Skincare Māhealani Balm for a Moonlit Glow ($82) Wow, that’s a pricey moisturizer! This balm melts quickly once you scoop some into your fingers, making it easy to spread on the face. It can be used day or night but is especially meant for the night as part of a relaxing before-bed ritual. Illipe seed butter, shea butter, and blue tansy combine to give it a super smooth texture and the smell is one I associate with blue tansy. It is supposed to help skin glow and can be used on other dry spots on the body or even on cuticles.

See New is a great way to try several beauty items from one maker and at significant savings over the individual product prices. It used to be a complete set (cleanser, toner, etc.) but lately, it’s been a combination of different items, and sometimes they will include something for the body. The value for this box was around $230!

Below are a couple of box opening pictures along with the product info card.
