My January Scentbird is here and I went with what Scentbird calls a male scent but Fragrantica says is unisex and I tend to like those earthier scents so I placed it on my queue! It appears that Scentbird now ships near the end of the month so keep that in mind and know that your fragrance might not show up until early the following month.

My perfume came with a card that listed the scent notes, ingredients, and country of origin (this one is made in France). Some of the points mentioned this was sweet, earthy, fresh, powerful, rustic, and smooth. It is sweet and earthy, but powerful isn’t a word I would use, as it faded quickly after I sprayed it on.

Marie Jeanne Vētiver Santal ($175 for 100ml) My scent arrived in a cardboard shipping container placed in a bubble mailer. I placed it in my snazzy red holder, which can be purchased at the Scentbird website, however, you will receive a holder with your first shipment, although the color will probably be more subdued. As for the fragrance, it was indeed unisex and my husband walked into the room shortly after I sprayed it and said he liked it. It has a bright Jean Nate citrus note at first blast but that quickly fades into an earthier note that doesn’t smell much like vetiver or sandalwood at all. There’s a base note that has a hint of smoke and vetiver but I have to deeply sniff my arm to catch it. Projection and longevity are both very low on my body, but of course your wearing may vary.

Scentbird lets its members vote on their scents and according to the voters this scent is woody with fresh and citrusy tied for second place. Most wearers seemed to like it. I like it, but wish the longevity was better, I can’t even smell it on my shirt collar after an hour.

If you like trying fragrances before buying, then Scentbird is a great way to do that since they send 8ml/0.27 ounces, enough for about 4 sprays a day over the course of a month. This gives you a feel for the fragrance and you can decide if you want to spend a lot on a full-sized bottle afterwards, you get to try before you buy. Plus, keep in mind that you can add additional fragrances or skincare items, even candles if you want, Scentbird has more than just fragrances available!

Scentbird is a monthly perfume and fragrance decanting subscription that has branched out into skincare, makeup, and even candles. With Scentbird, you get a thirty-day supply of perfume every month – Scentbird takes authentic perfumes and decants them into travel sprayers. There are over 450 fragrances to choose from and Scentbird adds new ones every month! The plan is $15.95 a month but you can save when you purchase a multi-month subscription, or even arrange to receive perfume every other month.
