Tokyo Treat is a monthly Japanese snack and candy subscription box that is shipped directly from Japan. Tokyo Treat’s Japanese snack and candy subscription box is a reader fave and made the list in our 2021 readers’ choice picks of best snack and candy subscription boxes!

ICYMI, Tokyo Treat boxes just got bigger and better! Starting December 1, they have removed the Classic option to ensure all TokyoTreat subscribers received the full Japanese snacking experience. Tokyo Treat boxes are now $37.50 per month. Some of the yummy things you can expect in this new version include ramen, udon, soba, jelly, purin, and Japanese desserts. There will still be a Culture Guide, but it will now have 24 pages – which means more articles and cultural information about Japan!

DEAL: Use this link and use the coupon code KITKAT22 to get a Japanese KitKat Valentine’s bonus! Ends 1/31 JST.

This month’s box theme is SWEET ‘N SNACKY VALENTINES!

Everything in my box!

The snack menu goes through the whole magazine, giving more details on why the item was chosen, if it’s safe for vegetarians, and allergy info all in one easy place!

The magazine also has lots of cultural notes and lessons about Japan. For Valentine’s Day, we learn about Valentine’s Day and White Day, and also 告白 which is a confession when you want to date someone!

Mike Shrimp Popcorn. The savoury seafood flavour of shrimp is combined with fluffy popcorn! These were lightly flavoured and not too strong.

Strawberry Milk KitKat. This month’s KitKat selection is a sweet and creamy strawberry milk flavour! I can’t get over the super cute floral packaging!

Yuzu Ramen. This month’s ramen selection is a somen noodle with citrus-tinged yuzu broth. It has a light, flavourful feeling that is really lifting during a cold day. I enjoyed every last spoonful of this ramen!

Umaibo Choco. I love Umaibo’s savoury flavours the most but Umaibo also does delicious sweets too! The chocolate variation has the same addicting crunch soaked with chocolate flavour.

Milk Senbei. These senbei have a very light, almost sweet flavour. They remind me a bit of an ice cream cone in terms of flavour and texture, just really light and flakey.

Choco Croissant. One of my favourite things about the upgraded Tokyo Treat is the new inclusion of freshly baked goodies. This month we received a chocolate-filled croissant. The croissant isn’t really the kind we’re used to here which is very flakey, this was more like a very soft bread (Japan bread is the best!) in a croissant shape. It was still absolutely delicious.

Strawberry Ramune Candy. These ramune candies melt and fizz in your mouth like ramune soda! The strawberry flavour is delicious!

Mashuro Marshmallow. A fluffy, sweet marshmallow treat! Tokyo Treat suggests enjoying it with a cup of hot chocolate!

Sherbert Pero Cola Flavour. A Fun Dip-style treat! A cola flavoured lollipop to dip into fizzy cola powder. This was easily one of my fave snacks in the box since I love anything cola flavoured.

Strawberry Soft Serve Marshmallow. A big pink marshmallow in an ice cream cone. The marshmallow was super fluffy and had a great strawberry ice cream flavour.

Yamato Turtle Crackers. Bite-sized senbei with a savoury soy sauce glaze. I love senbei, especially the salty kind, so these were perfect to snack on!

Hi-Chew Premium Strawberry. The Premium version of popular Hi-Chew! They are little balls instead of square Starburst-like shapes. The strawberry flavour is super intense!

Taro Beans. Mini rice crackers with a salty flavour. These were so addicting!

Strawberry Choco Balls. These tiny strawberry and chocolate candies aren’t just delicious, they can tell your fortune! Each candy has a tiny fortune underneath it.

Strawberry Stick Snack. Plain biscuit sticks are dipped into gooey strawberry icing. I found the icing to be a bit too artificial compared to other snacks in the box, but it was still pretty tasty!

Don Don Yaki Kimchi Snacks. Yet another rice cracker offering, this time one of my favourite brands! I love the Don Don rice snacks. I haven’t had kimchi before so I can’t compare the flavour of this variety, but it was pleasantly spicy and delicious.

Strawberry Milk Drink. The drink this month is a delicious strawberry milk! It tasted a little bit like the Strawberry Calpis drink, but not carbonated. It was really refreshing and I enjoyed it!

The February box was bursting with romantic chocolate and strawberry flavours! I love that Tokyo Treat now sends us a delicious baked treat, and the chocolate croissant was a perfect choice for a Valentine’s Day-themed box. There’s also yuzu ramen for a hearty snack, plus a yummy drink to cap it off! If you want delicious and unique snacks from Japan, Tokyo Treat has got you covered!

I agree with Gabbi. For the next review, it would be great if we could see what the food actually looks like. 🙂

It would be cool if you could unwrap the snacks so we could see what they look like. I was looking forward to the review of the strawberry KitKat – more details please! Did it actually taste like strawberry? Or was it a fake flavor?

I’ll make sure to take some snacky pics! Problem in my household is half the snacks vanish as soon as I unbox them… 😉
