The January 2022 BOXYCHARM had items to help me “refresh” my beauty routine during the dreariest days of the year. Four out of five items are makeup so I get to play around with some new eyeshadows and learn to contour and highlight my face — see what I received below!

Keep in mind that BOXYCHARM sends many box combos so your box items and value may be different than mine. There are variations in the box – see them here.

Earth Harbor Naturals NYMPH NECTAR Superfruit Radiance Balm ($38) I was browsing the beauty aisle at Whole Foods the other day and noticed that they carry this line and also noticed that I have a pretty good collection of their products thanks to subscription boxes! This is a rich moisturizing balm that can be used twice a day and I have been using it under my SPF and before putting on makeup.

Some of the ingredients are olive oil, mango seed butter, and plant extracts. It has a grainy texture but there is a disclaimer on the website that explains why that happens and what to do about it — I noticed that it dissolved as soon as I started rubbing it on. The scent is fruity and sweet, like fruity bubblegum, and it left my skin soft and felt nice while it went on.

Pur Cosmetics Fully Charged Mascara Powered By Magnetic Technology ($22) Mascara is something I wear to make it look like I have lashes, otherwise you can’t really see them there at all. This version did a decent job but I didn’t have results like the model on the brand’s website, but it wasn’t bad either.

The bristles on the wand aren’t super long which is helpful to me, because otherwise I wouldn’t be able to get close to the base for fear of poking my eye. You could tell there was a difference after using, but again, it just makes my lashes show up and not at all like the model on the website.

Dragun Beauty On Point Lip Job Duo ($16) Sometimes when I look up products I go to the brand’s Instagram page for examples and I can say that this founder’s use of makeup and mine are nowhere near the same, and yet I still made it work! The duo came with a lip pencil and sharpener.

The shade 2.0cc is described as medium brown. I wasn’t all that excited when I applied it to my lips, brown is not a color I ever reach for in regards to my lips, but I went over it with a pinkish lip crayon and it wasn’t bad, the look kind of grew on me.

Here it is swatched and again, not a great color on its own but some red or pink over top may help if this isn’t your preferred look.

Wander Beauty Wandress™ Escape Eyeshadow Palette ($42 listed value) I couldn’t help but smile when I saw this palette, I love the colors and all but check out that view on the cover!

According to the brand we have matte, satin, and shimmer finishes and I love a good combo of all of those things. Here’s how Wander describes these shades:

  • Moonlit – shimmer warm champagne
  • Enchanted – matte mauve purple
  • Flourish – foil orchid purple
  • Sunkissed – matte sienna nude
  • Santorini – satin golden bronze
  • Nude Beach – matte nude beige
  • Daydream – foil warm peach
  • Stargaze – shimmer 24k gold
  • Sea Glass – shimmer aqua blue
  • Overnight – matte cool brown

Here’s a closer look. These all have hyaluronic acid and rosehip seed oil to keep lids from becoming dry.

Here’s the top row swatched.

Here’s the bottom row.

Yikes, I had some serious fallout from one of the colors on the bottom row. So far nothing has migrated into my eyes but it does look worrisome.

Aesthetica Cream Contour Kit ($40) This was unlike anything I’ve ever tried before, and I must say I’m a little apprehensive about using it, what if I look like a clown when I’m finished?

There were lots of tips though to help me figure out how to contour using these creams.

In fact, there was a mini tip guide inside!

It tells me exactly how to use the creams, and even shows me where to use highlighter and contour based on my face shape.

It’s meant for fair to dark skin tones, which means some of the colors probably won’t be used because I am pretty fair to begin with. The pans are magnetic and removable/refillable so you can reorder exactly what you need. You can also blend the colors to get shades that work best for you.

Here they are swatched, they were very creamy and swiped on easily. They can be applied with brushes or sponges and I’m thinking BLEND is the best tip I can offer. I can’t see me using this on a regular basis but it’s nice to do something special occasionally.

I sure have a lot of new makeup to keep me busy for the next month coming up with new looks, this should keep me from becoming bored with my usual beauty routine. We are having a warmer than usual winter here in Central Texas but I still suffer from dry skin woes and the Earth Harbor Nymph Nectar is a great way for me to keep my skin from becoming super dry, plus, it smells absolutely lovely, and it also works great on my cuticles before bed. My box had a value of around $158!
