Persona Cosmetics Lip Liner in 90210 ($14) I had to free this lip liner from its plastic packaging first.

It’s a lip liner in the shade 90210, and is described as deep brick in color.

I liked the texture — it wasn’t dry and didn’t pull at my lips, but wasn’t so soft as to feel like a skinny lip crayon. I managed to use it all over my lips and then went over it with an actual lip crayon and was quite pleased with the color.

Here it is swatched.

Juice Beauty Bamboo Pore Refining Mask ($36) Sometimes I get products in beauty boxes that aren’t really matched to my needs, like this mask, which is especially recommended for blemish-prone or oily skin and not for those who have sensitive skin or rosacea, and I have both of those conditions and dry skin. I will be passing this to my daughter but I did try it on my chin first.

The mask is pretty smooth and it’s supposed to be rinsed off after about 2 minutes. It has bamboo charcoal and clay to clean out pores and some of the other ingredients include aloe, glycerin, and shea butter. It didn’t have time to dry since it was rinsed off so quickly and it has a scent that was kind of weird, but then there was peppermint over top of that which helped some.

LYS Beauty Secure Skin Gripping Serum Primer ($20) I don’t often reach for primers (except for the kind that prep my eyelids for shadow) but this one wasn’t too bad, and it didn’t leave behind that weird “slick” feeling that some primers do, probably because this doesn’t have dimethicone. Instead, the first three ingredients are water, niacinamide, and PVP. It feels a little tacky at first but there’s no stickiness once it dries. I currently have an irritated area with large pores and this is supposed to reduce pore appearance but I don’t think it did, but otherwise it worked fine as a primer.

Cover FX Custom Enhancer Palette ($42) For some reason the name of this product had me expecting something else, like creams and powders and tons of shades, but it turns out it’s three highlighters.

Apparently the brand has “custom enhancer drops” that are liquid highlighters, but they decided to turn them into powders, which I usually find easier to apply anyways.

Here’s how Cover FX describes the shades:

Candlelight: Shimmering golden bronze
Sunlight: Glowing gold
Blossom: Soft, pearlescent pink

Here they are swatched. I used a brush to apply and these are much more subdued that I expected, but then again, it was easy to use and I’m pretty happy with the results.

ĀTHR Beauty Desert Sunset Palette ($48) I was supposed to get a similar palette from this brand a few months ago in Glam Bag X but my bag was lost so I missed out. After using this palette today it made me sad that all of my other palettes aren’t as nice as this one, wait until you see the swatches!

The name of the shades are on the bottom of the palette.

The inside lid described why I didn’t see a mirror where expected — the lack of a mirror makes it easier to recycle!

This is a warm color scheme and there are mattes and shimmers. I thought the shadows were easy to apply and the mattes are super saturated, only a bit is needed but you can always add more if needed.

I had to get creative when swatching. These are the triangular shades, from top: Desert Sand, Sedona, Twilight, Eternal, Golden Hour, Mesquite.

Here are the diamond colors found in the middle of the palette: Desert Coral, Sunrise, Sunset, After Glow.

Bareminerals Original Mineral Veil® Loose Setting Powder in Original ($28) Ever since I started using a powder makeup base, face powders/setting powders/translucent powders have become obsolete to me, so one of my daughters is in for a real treat!

This is in the shade Original and it has earned the “Clean at Sephora” badge.

There’s a piece of plastic you have to remove to expose the product but then you just sift it out, either onto a brush or into the lid or back of your hand and then tap your fluffiest brush on that and then onto the face. It’s supposed to set makeup, reduce the appearance of pores, and absorb excess oil.

Like my regular BOXYCHARM subscription, I received a lot of makeup to start the year off in a colorful manner! I really loved the palette, the colors are the kind that I prefer to wear and they were easy to use. I also thought the highlighter palette was pretty and liked the lip liner and primer. The mask and finishing powder will be gifted to my daughters, they can usually take the things that I can’t so it all gets used up. The value for my box combo was around $188!

BOXYCHARM Premium is a beauty box from BOXYCHARM (who also has a base box for $27.99 a month and a BOXYLUXE upgrade option).
