We have the spoilers for the Boxwalla December 2021 Film Box, a subscription for movie buffs and pop culture fans!

This December, you will have a choice between two Film Sets. As always, the film box only includes Blu Rays.

Please Note: “Today is also the last day for current subscribers to make their Book and Film picks, switch between box categories, or cancel. We will not be able to accommodate late cancellations.”

Here are the two choices you can pick from for December:

December Film Box 1: Claire Denis & Brunot Dumont

The December Film Box Choice 1 contains two films by two wonderful French filmmakers: Claire Denis and Bruno Dumont. Both films were made in 1999.

Claire Denis’s Beau Travail (1999)
Bruno Dumont’s L’Humanite (1999)
Criterion on Beau Travail: “With her ravishingly sensual take on Herman Melville’s Billy Budd, Sailor, Claire Denis firmly established herself as one of the great visual tone poets of our time. Amid the azure waters and sunbaked desert landscapes of Djibouti, a French Foreign Legion sergeant sows the seeds of his own ruin as his obsession with a striking young recruit plays out to the thunderous, operatic strains of Benjamin Britten….one of the most startling and unforgettable endings in all of modern cinema.”

Criterion on L’Humanite: “The transcendent second feature by Bruno Dumont probes the wonder and horror of the human condition through the story of a profoundly alienated police detective who, while investigating the murder of a young girl, experiences jolting, epiphanous moments of emotional and physical connection…L’Humanite is at once idiosyncratic police procedural and provocative exploration of the tension between humankind’s capacity for compassion and our base, sometimes barbarous animal instincts.

Retail Value: $79.90

December Film Box 2: Krzysztof Kieślowski

December Film Box Choice 2 contains Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Dekalog Trilogy. Kieślowski was one of the first filmmakers I watched along with my partner, Sandeep!

From Criterion: “This masterwork by Krzysztof Kieślowski is one of the twentieth century’s greatest achievements in visual storytelling. Dekalog focuses on the residents of a housing complex in late-Communist Poland, whose lives become subtly intertwined as they face emotional dilemmas that are at once deeply personal & universally human. Its ten hour-long films, drawing from the Ten Commandments for thematic inspiration and an overarching structure, grapple deftly with complex moral and existential questions concerning life, death, love, hate, truth, and the passage of time.”

Retail Value: $99.95

Boxwalla offers subscription boxes and limited edition boxes. Boxwalla Film Box is $49.95 every other month, and comes with films by the best filmmakers from all over the world. See all our Boxwalla Film reviews to find out more.

About Boxwalla Film:
