Did you notice the new box design in that first picture?

Turns out Vegancuts is making some updates and they started with the box!

My beauty items shipped in the same box as my snack items, but they were kept separate in a reusable bag.

I received a card telling me that the proceeds from this month’s box will go to Rooster Sanctuary.

Here are the four items this month and please note that substitutions may be made. Check out the Vegancuts website for discount codes. The theme this month is Let’s Get Portrait Ready!

Everything in my box!

Acure Ultra Hydrating 12 Hour Facial Moisturizer ($11.21 value) I like this sample pouch because it is easy to pack and I can squeeze out all of the product with my hands. This pouch holds 2/3 of the full-sized product.

Ha, check out the directions, I love it when a company has a sense of humor! Some of the ingredients include argan and sunflower seed oils, shea butter, aloe, plant oils and extracts, and adaptogens. If using this during the day make sure to use sunscreen as those citrus oils can cause a reaction when the sun hits them. It very moisturizing but I don’t think it’s greasy, and my skin needs the extra moisture as we move towards cooler temps. It smells like a combo of rose and citrus, although the scent fades quickly.

dr Botanicals Cf Coffee & Walnut Superfood Renewing Facial Exfoliator (£9.99, around $13.77 USD) I think I linked to the correct product, although the one on the brand’s website doesn’t list walnut in the name, but it is in the ingredients.

It’s a face scrub with clay, glycerin, walnut shells, sweet almond oil, and coffee seed extract. I was worried that this would irritate my sensitive skin but the shells are in such a creamy, thick base that they didn’t feel super gritty on my face (I tested on my hand first to make sure my face could take it). It smells like coffee thanks to the extract and that is supposed to offer antioxidants too. I applied to clean, damp skin and rinsed it off in the shower. I missed the part that said I should leave it on for a few minutes but I will know better next time.

J&L Naturals Strength Hair Serum in Naked ($26.99) There were a few different versions of this oil on the brand’s website that include essential oils but this one is Naked. Also, they have Growth and Hydrate but this one is Strength.

It’s a blend of oils and can be used prior to washing or afterwards as a leave-in treatment. I have very thin, fine hair so I skipped my in-shower conditioner and used two drops of this and my hair combed out with no problems. I used a blow dryer and watched for greasy bangs but when I checked in the afternoon it all looked fine. I will say that I didn’t use a curling iron, I was afraid it might singe my hair, but otherwise I had no problems with this and actually liked that it was essential-oil free.

I didn’t notice any scent and again, only used about two drops. I rubbed it between my palms before applying to the ends of my hair. I’m sure it could be used as a body oil or applied to cuticles if you are having a hard time using it up before it goes off/gets rancid.

Pacifica Clean Shot Retinoid + Bakuchiol 3% in Seawater + Jasmine ($16) Bakuchiol is a popular antioxidant ingredient that is supposed to help reduce signs of irritation that may come with one of its paired ingredients, hydroxypinacolone retinoate, which is a retinoid that may help fight signs of aging.

Some of the other ingredients in this gel serum are sea water, glycerin, Norway spruce extract, and parfum (why, Pacifica?). At least scent is the last ingredient, and it smells like jasmine. Also note that this contains ethanol, which is another name for alcohol.

The directions say to use 1-2 droppers worth of gel but that seems like a lot, and note that it’s kind of hard to drop, I ended up smearing it on instead. They say to use in the evening before face cream and of course make sure to wear sunscreen in the morning because this type of product can make the skin more sensitive to the sun.

The products in the Vegancuts October Beauty Box were perfect for the theme of Let’s Get Portrait Ready! You can look pretty as a picture with glossy hair and smooth skin (since those other three products were for the face). I was surprised by the hair oil, it didn’t leave me with greasy bangs and that’s quite an accomplishment in itself. The moisturizer was also a great product for my skin, and didn’t leave it greasy. The retinoid is ok, although I generally try to avoid alcohol and fragrance in my face products, and the scrub was gently gritty and didn’t feel too harsh for my sensitive skin. The value for this box was around $68.
