Did you know there are Pokémon manhole covers in Japan?
The booklet also has a list of all the items in this month’s box, including which items are only in the premium box.
DonDon Yaki. DonDon Yaki are some of my favourite snacks introduced to me by Tokyo Treat! They are a small rice cracker with a spicy, savoury flavour to them. Often they are mixed with peanuts as well. I love them!
Chocolate Umaibo. Umaibo makes some sweet flavoured corn puff snacks as well, and this chocolate one is the most common to pop up in Tokyo Treat. (There’s another sweet umaibo in this box — keep reading!)
Karamucho Chili Tomato Chips. Kumamoto is well known for its bear mascot, Kumamon! These potato chips have a delicious spicy tomato flavour that is really addicting! I didn’t find these too spicy at all.
Onion Taro. These puffed corn balls have a light onion flavour. It wasn’t a very overwhelming flavour, but they were crunchy and delicious.
Okonomiyaki Corn Snack. Similar to the Onion Taro, these are also corn snacks with a savoury okonomiyaki sauce flavour. I found these were a lot more flavourful but they were softer and not as satisfyingly crunchy!
Strawberry Ice Cream DIY Kit. This month there was no DIY instructions included, so I had to use my Japanese skills to try and figure it out! The candy turns into a thick, whipped candy when stirred with water, I think these kits are called NeruNeru candy! Anyway, once it was whipped up thick and fluffy I added scoops to the wafer cones. The cones were a bit chewy (I don’t think they were super fresh) so I ended up eating the candy on its own, haha!
Mont Blanc KitKats. Premium subscribers always get a bag of mini KitKats in unique flavours. This month we were sent Mont Blanc KitKats, which are a famous pastry with chestnuts and rum. These KitKats actually have 0.01% alcohol in them!
Crunky Crunch Chocolate. Crunky chocolate is some of the best in Japan, and this chocolate chip combo is delicious! The packaging features characters from Demon Slayer, a super popular series!
Peach Fanta. Japan is known for its many varieties of Fanta, and this is a peach flavour! It’s super refreshing and delicious!
Blueberry Pocky. These limited edition Pocky have heart shaped tips and a delicious blueberry flavour! I enjoyed snacking on these while studying Japanese and they gave me a great boost of happiness!
Butter Koala March. Koala March is a popular and cute snack with flavoured filling. This version has a very rich white chocolate and butter flavour which I thought was a bit too overwhelming. It tasted like actual butter and not a lot of white chocolate.
Sour Paper Grape Candy. A thin candy that is chewy and quite sour. The grape flavour is sweet underneath but it definitely puckered my cheeks!
Potato Porickey. These Pocky-like biscuits are meant to have a potato flavour but I didn’t really get that flavour myself. I didn’t really like these.
Apple Cinnamon Umaibo. PERFECT fall flavour of my beloved umaibo! This had a perfect light, delicate apple cinnamon flavour.
Suzume Crackers. Suzume means “sparrow” in Japanese which explains the cute bird! These are peanuts coated in a thick and crunchy soy sauce flavouring. These were only okay.
Constellation Chocolate Cookie. This cookie has a thick chocolate layer and it’s really delicious!
Yakisoba Snack. Another common snack in Tokyo Treat is this crunchy ramen snack!
The November box had some old favourites and lots of new flavours! I was really excited by the potato chips and the peach Fanta! There were a few misses for me personally like the Koala March, Porickey, and Suzume snacks but the majority were really unique and delicious!
