This is my first time reviewing Simplicity Teas and I have the pleasure of trying the Deluxe box!

I received a card welcoming me to the club!

The back of the card gave some tips for steeping the teas and mentioned that each tea can be re-steeped. I typically use a “perfect” teaspoon (more like 1.5 teaspoons) and 8 ounces of water when I make tea. For the purposes of this review I will be making hot tea only, although the teas can be made double strength and poured over ice.

Everything in my box!

Leaf Tea Infuser You can find similar tea infusers like this on Amazon in a variety of colors. Your first box from Simplicity Teas will include an infuser of some sort and they may vary. There are other ways to steep loose leaf tea and you may want to use disposable bags, a tea making system, a French press, or a strainer.

This one has a silicone top and resting tray in case you want to save the leaves for resteeping later in the day.

Sweet Dreams Some of the teas are available on the Simplicity Teas websites, others aren’t, so I linked where I could. There are steeping instructions on each package and that is so helpful. This is a fruity/herbal tea with no actual tea leaves and so it’s caffeine-free. Some of the teas have wellness properties and this one is supposed to help promote good sleep.

Apples, cranberries, and spearmint are some of the ingredients. We just had our first kinda cool front here in Central Texas and I sipped this one while outside enjoying the cooler weather. The flavor was fruity and had a little bit of a citric acid type of tang and for some reason reminded me of bubble gum!

Key Lime I’ve had lime in herbal teas before but wasn’t sure what to think about it being in black tea. Then I remembered that Earl Grey is really just bitter orange in black tea so I went in with an open mind.

It’s made with black tea, lime, lemon, and lime leaves (you can see dried lime peel pieces). I was pleasantly surprised by this tea — it had a gentle and interesting lime flavor and it wasn’t super strong yet it held up to sugar and milk and was a lovely afternoon sip.

Almond Oolong According to the label this is supposed to help with digestion. This has an oolong tea base, which is somewhere in between green and black tea and has to do with the oxidation and fermenting process.

Oolong tea sometimes has a smoky flavor note but it wasn’t in this blend. The flavor was smooth, light-bodied, no need for sugar or milk. I’m loving that these teas don’t taste artificial or fake.

Tangy Grapefruit is made of black tea, grapefruit flavor, orange, and marigold flowers. The scent is amazing, it smells just like fresh grapefruit when you open the lid!

Again, I was a little worried, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of grapefruit mixed with black tea before. This turned out to be my favorite of the bunch! It had the strongest black tea flavor and I added sugar and milk and while it still had a lightly floral note, it didn’t taste like grapefruit but it was so unique and really boosted the black tea flavor.

I was so delighted to try Simplicity Teas for the first time! The blends were unique and interesting, and even better, they all were flavorful and downright good! So many flavored teas depend on artificial flavors to get any, um, flavor but these didn’t taste fake or forced, they weren’t in your face, they had delicate flavor notes. The inclusion of a steeper was helpful and I liked the assortment I received.
