Everything in the KENNY GILBERT box!

Chef Kenny’s Spice Blends in Cinnamon Coffee Rub ($2.69) I received 3 spice blends made by Chef Kenny! First up is a rub that uses a combination of coffee beans, cinnamon, and other additional spices. It’s great to use on lamb, salmon, beef brisket, BBQ, chicken, and more.

Chef Kenny’s Spice Blends in Fried Chicken Seasoning ($3.68) This one is a unique blend of spices that enhance a fried chicken’s flavor profile. Aside from chicken, this seasoning can also transform vegetables, smoked fish, poultry brine, and other meats into special meals.

Chef Kenny’s Spice Blends in Jerk Spice ($4) This spice is inspired by Chef Kenny’s passion for Caribbean and African cuisine. It can be used on chicken, shellfish, beef, lamb, goat, and seafood.

What’s great about these spice blends is that they are kosher, low in sodium, and gluten and sugar free as well.

I used the cinnamon coffee rub on salmon and it gave the fish a rich flavor! I baked it, but this is also perfect for grilling.

It smelled so good and the salmon turned out moist! I also served it with greens for a complete meal.

I also tried the Buttermilk Southern Fried Chicken recipe provided in the box! It was easy to make. First, I mixed the eggs, buttermilk, and the fried chicken seasoning then I added the chicken into the marinade and refrigerated it for an hour.

Before frying, I rolled the chicken one by one into a mixture made with flour, cornstarch, and the remaining fried chicken seasoning.

I fried it between 10 to 12 minutes and it turned out crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! My kids went wild over the flavors too, even with the hint of heat!

Savannah Bee Company Wildflower Honey ($6.25) It’s a small jar of pure honey, which has a sweet, complex, and robust taste. This is a flexible ingredient, as it can be used in smoothies, yogurt parfaits, granola, breads, hot drinks, and more! It’s also kosher certified, organic, and gluten free.

Davidson of Dundee Orange Marmalade ($6.67) Made with orange peel and orange juice, this fruit preserve is another versatile addition to the pantry. I love having it on my morning toast but it’s also great for adding to baked goods and to desserts. It’s sweet, balanced by just the right amount of zest.

OXO Good Grips Hand-Held Mandoline Slicer ($17.99) The only kitchen tool included in this month’s box is a hand-held mandoline slicer. The blades are made from stainless steel and all parts are dishwasher safe.

The slicer also features a non-slip handle, knob, and foot for easier slicing.

It can also be adjusted in 3 thicknesses variations which makes it a versatile and reliable kitchen tool.

Pearl And Johnny 10-Minute Pickle Kit Dill-Icious ($6) This kit has some of the ingredients we need for making our own artisan pickles at home, plus a reusable jar.

The label provided directions we can easily follow.

It includes a packet of organic seasoning mix, which contains mustard seed, dill seed, dill weed, peppercorns, and crushed red pepper. It’s organic, non-GMO, and free of additives.

Using the hand-held Mandoline slicer, I sliced the cucumber in uniform thickness.

Next, I boiled the pickle mix, vinegar, and water together then transferred them to the jar filled with the cucumber I cut earlier.

I closed it and let it cool before refrigerating! They stay good for 3 weeks, but it’s impossible not to finish it right away because the pickles were really good. They’re so flavorful!

Bob’s Red Mill Red Quinoa ($6.79) This organic whole grain red quinoa is ideal for pilafs, soups, and salads. It’s nutritious, easy to prepare, and an excellent source of complete protein and dietary fiber. I also like that it’s naturally gluten free.

This also makes a good alternative to couscous and white rice for those following a gluten free, vegan, or vegetarian diet. The packaging contains cooking instructions, plus a recipe for Ensalada De Quinoa! I mixed this with some leftover rainbow quinoa so I didn’t want to take a confusing picture, but we had this with broccoli and cheese – super delicious and protein-y!

CrateChef provided another great curation of high-quality cooking items in this month’s box. There’s a set of spices from the featured chef, which includes a coffee cinnamon rub, a fried chicken seasoning, and jerk spice. They help enhance homemade dishes without much effort, and I love them! I also like the small jar of honey and orange marmalade. My favorites from this curation are the pickle making set and the mandoline slicer. The pickle set already includes the jar and the seasoning, so all I had to get from home are the cucumber and vinegar. Meanwhile, the slicer is easy to use. I used it to make sure that the cucumbers for my pickles are in uniform thickness. It can be used for a lot of other vegetables as well. The pickles turned out tasty and now I’m craving for more! This subscription is ideal for people who love experimenting in the kitchen, whether you’re an aspiring chef or you simply enjoy cooking. It’s also a great way to learn new cooking techniques and recipes from different chefs!

I’ve done the “build a box” option before and really liked that. Part of me wants to subscribe, but the value seems a bit hit or miss based on reviews.
