My Atlas Tea Club Review

Atlas Tea Club is a tea-of-the-month club that sends high-quality teas and offers a little bit of customization. In each box, you will receive a single-origin tea, a postcard featuring the country of origin, flavor notes, steeping tips, and filters. You can choose from caffeinated or herbal; green, black, or a variety (such as oolong and white in addition to black and green) for $14 a month + flat rate shipping fee of $4.95 for US orders.

Our tea is curated and procured from around the globe. We share the world of tea with you, bringing you tea from a new region or country each month.

With each tea box you’ll get information on the source and history of the tea, from ancient traditions to current farming practices. Check out our product descriptions for more info on the various gardens we source from or feel free to reach out and ask us!

This is my first time trying Atlas Tea Club! I am reviewing the Two Teas subscription, and I said yes to caffeine and that I prefer black tea.

Here is the postcard, which is really a product info card since it has more info on the back. Both of my teas are from Nepal!

The card says that my teas are grown on the hillsides of the third highest mountain in the world. That is amazing!

Everything in my box!

First things first: Atlas Tea Club sends loose leaf teas, and you will need a way to steep them. I received some disposable drawstring bags (I think I counted 9 of them) and one reusable muslin drawstring bag. You could also use a strainer, tea ball, steeping system, or French press.

I can’t wait to try my new teas! I am going to share with you the FAQS on the amount of tea and let you know that if you aren’t into re-steeping your teas then this amount probably won’t go very far.

Our boxes contain 2 different teas that equal a total of 40 grams of tea. The typical serving size is: 2 grams (~1 tsp) in 8 oz of water = 1 cup of tea. However, you’re getting much more than 20 cups of tea…

Loose leaf teas are meant to be re-steeped multiple times, as each new steep is a whole new cup of tea (not a watered down version of the first cup). The re-steeps reveal new flavors, with exciting notes emerging in each infusion. Each tea comes with a steeping guide and recommendations on how many re-steeps you can enjoy (usually ~3-4) so you get the most flavor out of your cups of tea. That’s ~40-60+ cups, depending on your steeping preferences.

Atlas Tea Club Kumari Gold – Nepal. Each bag has some important information listed. It tells me the tea name, country of origin, tasting notes, description, number of re-steeps, amount to use, water temp, steeping time, and caffeine level.

I used 1.5 teaspoons of tea and still wondered if that would be enough, because you usually need more of wiry teas than let’s say, a finely cut Assam tea. The tea was golden in color and had a wonderful flavor, but wasn’t similar to English breakfast, no sugar or milk was needed to tame any acidity or bitterness and would turn the tea flat and tasteless. They mentioned a “touch of roses” on the palate and sure enough, that is what I taste after every sip.

Atlas Tea Club Kanchanjangha Noir. Check out those tasting notes: raisins, chocolate, and cherries! This tea is cut a little smaller than the previous one so I think that might be why I felt it was a little deeper in flavor, but still not bitter or tannic at all.

Like the other tea, it had a floral fragrance, and I really could taste a chocolate note after it cooled down. It wasn’t bold enough for my morning cup but is a sweet sip for the afternoon.

Is Atlas Tea Club Worth it?

I enjoyed trying these unique teas from Atlas Tea Club! The black teas are single origin and contain no additional flavorings at all, and that’s my favorite kind of tea! These were smooth enough to not require milk or sugar, although I added a bit of both to the second tea because that’s how I prefer it. The tea bags were handy and remind me that I should probably order a pack since fall is coming and I greatly increase my hot tea consumption when it starts to get cold. I bet these would make for a unique take on iced tea with a lot more flavor than Lipton.
