The baking kit arrived in a cute, light blue box!

Some of the items were packed in plastic.

This is the Unicorn Treat Pop Kit! It comes with a card that lists all the ingredients needed, tools, baking time, and quantity of servings.

The instructions are detailed and the included photos make it super easy to follow. Some projects suggest a particular styling or finish for decorating — some are more open-ended and encourage you to let your creative juices flow.

This month’s box came with a card that can be used as a stand for the Unicorn Treat Pops!

The box includes complete nutritional and ingredients information. You will like the ingredients – never anything artificial, and the ingredients are primarily organic with only natural food dye. The information covers every component of the kit, from mixes to decorations, but it doesn’t contemplate anything you are instructed to add, such as butter or yogurt.

Everything inside the box!

This unicorn sticker sheet is for decorating the push pops!

The box includes dry ingredients only, which includes organic vanilla cake mix, organic vanilla frosting mix, blue plant-based dye packet, pink plant-based dye packet, and a packet of natural rainbow unicorn sugar. From home, I just grabbed eggs, butter, yogurt, and milk.

The box provided these Push-Pops container for easier preparation. They are clear so it’s easy to see if you’ve put enough cake inside.

My kids started by preparing the cake. They added the eggs, butter, milk, and yogurt in a large bowl.

My son poured in the vanilla cake mix in the bowl and mixed everything until the batter is smooth. The next step is to pour it into a pan that was sprayed with a cooking spray, and then pop it in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes. Make sure to do the toothpick test to see if the cake is ready before setting it aside to cool.

While the cake is cooling, it’s time to prepare the frosting. For that, just put together 3 tablespoons of softened butter along with 3 tablespoons of Greek yogurt before slowly blending in the vanilla frosting mix. Once everything is fully incorporated, divide the frosting into 3 small bowls. Add half the blue dye in the first bowl, half the pink dye in the second bowl, and the remaining blue and pink dye in the third bowl, making sure to mix everything well. When you’re done, pop it in the fridge for at least 10 minutes to allow it to firm up.

Once the cake has cooled down, use the treat pops to cut cake into circles. Make sure to keep the cuts fairly close so you can maximize the cake and create enough circles to fill all the treat pops containers. We had soooo much extra that we had a great time eating our cake discs.

To fill the treat pops, place a layer of cake inside the treat pop and push it down with your fingers until it reaches the bottom then choose a color of frosting you would like and carefully add a spoonful into the treat pop. Add another layer of the cake disk and another layer of frosting and repeat the steps until you have 4-5 layers. You can alternate the color of the frostings or use one color on each treat pop, it’s up to you!

For the final touches, add a frosting swirl at the top of the pop before sprinkling on some crystal sugar. Afterward, it’s time to use the unicorn sticker sheet to create a custom unicorn face for the pops!

My kids used the card to set up the stage and showcase their creations!

These look really good! My kids love the charming unicorn faces on each treat pop!

These are really good treats and they’re fun to eat as well. Simply use the plunger to push the cake and frosting up so you can eat it!

My kids and I loved the cake! It was soft and moist. The icing was also good and it has just the right amount of sweetness!

My kids were really happy with this month’s baking kit because they love cake and unicorns! The instruction card was well detailed. It even included photos of the step-by-step procedure which made everything really easy to follow, from baking to making the frosting and even assembling the treat pop. The box also provided all the dry ingredients and we only needed a few items from home! If you’re looking for an activity that you can do with kids at home, Foodstirs is one of your best bets. Aside from providing an exciting family activity, they also make sure to send good quality, organic ingredients! You do have to contribute all the wet ingredients, but it’s really fun to have an insta-worthy treat!

I bought the 6 kit subscription for my great-niece in November 2021, with the first box to be delivered in December. The first 3 boxes arrived fine, albeit a little late. My niece loved them! And then… there was an email that because of “supply chain issues”, the next box would be late. Since then, nothing – crickets. I went to their site today (Foodstirs.com) and it’s not working. I was able to send their support an email but have not heard back at all. I can understand a little late, but they are now months behind and there is NO COMMUNICATION. Very poorly run company.
