Pour & Sip is a monthly UK whisky subscription service. Each box includes 30ml tasters of 5 different whiskies hand-picked by experts. A monthly subscription is £29.95 and your welcome pack will include 2 Glencairn glasses and a how-to taste whisky guide.

Membership in the subscription service also includes perks like discounts on bottles in the member store and access to live whisky tastings.

Here is everything in the February subscription box.

As this was my first box, it included a welcome pack with two Glencairn glasses and a tasting guide.

The How To Taste Your Pour & Sip guide is really helpful for those uninitiated with tasting.

The box also includes detailed tasting note cards for each of the five whiskies.

These include an overview of the distillery/brand, notes on the nose, palate and finish, and on the back of the card a space for your own notes and star rating.

The tasting notes definitely helped me appreciate the complexity of each of the whiskies.

In my first box I received drams of the following:

Mars Maltage ‘Cosmo’ blended malt whisky (43%vol) from Mars Shinshu distillery in Japan.  I adored this whisky with its sweet aroma of apples and honey, delicate flavour with a hint of smoke;

Tomintoul Cigar Malt single malt Scotch whisky (43%vol) from Tomintoul Distillery.   This was my least favourite of the bunch.  With a hint of cinnamon and bold hit of smoke, for my palate this was the least complex and least expensive tasting;

Arran Port Cask Finish single malt Scotch whisky (50%vol) by Arran Distillery located off the west coast of Scotland.  I really enjoyed this, an aroma of grapes and cream followed by flavours of sweet fruits, peppery notes and a creamy finish reminiscent of sherry;

Amrut Fusion single malt whisky (50%) by Amrut in India.  This whisky has an interesting flavour of peppery spices with a lingering richness;

Kilchoman Machir Bay Cask Strength single malt Scotch whisky (58.6%vol) from Kilchoman Distillery.  This is one of the strongest tasting drinks I have ever had!  With an aroma of hay and grass, this tastes earthy and zesty, leaving a stinging sensation in my throat and lips. I enjoyed trying this once but it is definitely not a drink for the faint of heart!

Pour & Sip is a wonderful subscription box for any inquisitive whisky lover.  I really enjoyed sampling and savouring the awesome selection of whiskies from the comfort of my own home – each a totally different tasting experience than the last.  The glasses provided with the welcome pack are a nice touch, while the clever tasting guide and detailed notes allow even a novice like myself to enjoy and appreciate every sip.  This is a subscription box that I would be delighted to receive each month.
