FYI – there are SPOILERS in this post!

As a subscriber (limited numbers can join each month), you are invited to join the Society of Seekers, a group of like-minded puzzle friends who use their heads and a little bit of internet-search know-how to explore a city and solve a mystery each month. This month’s destination is LAS VEGAS!

Everything is packed in a string-tie envelope.

There’s also a sticky note that contains instructions on how to get started with this case.

Everything in the box!

Included in this month’s box is a welcome letter and checklist of every item that should be inside the package, plus all the clues needed to solve the mystery.

Deck Of Cards. I received a complete set of playing cards to start this mission. A card will be separated from the deck for every task accomplished. The goal is to collect 10 cards and use the information to stop Danny Ocean and his crew.

The cards were plain but it can definitely give us the answers that we need.

Danny Ocean has worn out his welcome in Las Vegas. His frat pack’s continual swindling of casinos has become passé and a nuisance. The local authorities have enlisted the Society of Seekers to infiltrate his gang and stop their next robbery. Your mission is to solve puzzles that reveal 10 passwords required to collect playing cards from Ocean’s chums. These cards will then reveal the location, date and time of their next heist attempt.

The first location is Neon Boneyard Park!

Your first stop is the Neon Boneyard Park, where old signs from the strip lay to rest. The collection includes more than 200 historic signs, including those from Caesars Palace, the Golden Nugget and Stardust.

As you wander the dirt path lined with rusty metal, you come to a particular sign that is still in working order. To collect your first card, you must examine the sign, which contains a password.

Working Sign

The Stardust sign had recurring symbols and letters that serve as the clue.

The next destination is Hoover Dam!

Completed in 1936, the Hoover Dam is an amazing feat of architecture and engineering. The dam impounds Lake Mead, which is the largest reservoir in the United States. At the time of its opening, the dam was also the largest hydroelectric power plant in the world.

As you take in the sweeping views from the top of the dam, you are handed a circuitry board and 3 metal wires. To secure the next playing card, you must figure out the secret numerical code.

Hoover Dam Puzzle. To solve this puzzle, I used the guide to match the symbols using the electrical wires.

3 Electrical Wires. They also provided electrical wires for connecting the symbols on the Hoover Dam Puzzle and create the numerical code needed to proceed with the mission.

You’ve identified another playing card. Remove the ACE OF DIAMONDS from the deck of cards included in your box and set it aside for later.

Then, I moved to Fremont Street!

As the historic district of downtown Las Vegas, Fremont Street has long been the representative scene for Sin City depicted in movies and posters. It is home to some of the earliest casinos and was nicknamed Glitter Gulch after the many flashing lights and neon signs, including Cowboy Vegas Vic.

You wander the bustling street, which has undergone a lot of revitalization in recent years to try to attract gamblers from off The Strip, and then enter Binion’s Gambling Hall. The main attraction at Binion’s is a pyramid stack of cash that totals one million dollars. Ocean’s crony is here to hand off the next card to you, but you must give her a secret code.

The three-digit code is contained within the dice displayed in front of you.

Fremont Street Puzzle. To obtain the next password, I used this puzzle together with the dice. To solve it, you just need to align the dice exactly how it is shown and rotate it along the path. It eventually ends up with a number.

2 Dice. I was able to solve the Fremont Street Puzzle with the help of these dice. This part was easy since I just have to roll the dice as it moves on the trail.

You’ve identified another playing card. Remove the THREE OF SPADES from the deck of cards included in your box and set it aside for later.

The next location is The Strip!

Your trip to Las Vegas would be incomplete without visiting The Strip. The world’s largest casinos and hotels are concentrated along this four miles of Las Vegas Boulevard. The glamour of the lights and over-the-top ornamentation is a result of the casinos competing for your attention and money.

You’ve been directed to the high stakes poker table at The Aria for your next card. As you approach the table, you are dealt a series of seemingly random cards with 2 missing spaces. You need to identify the absent cards.

It looks like the cards are positioned randomly but there is actually a pattern on every row. I also checked If I could find any clue by examining it diagonally.

Next, I proceeded to A Little White Wedding Chapel!

You discover that one of Ocean’s cronies is getting married at A Little White Wedding Chapel today. They’ll join Michael Jordan and Britney Spears among many others who have been married here!

As you enter the gaudy waiting room, your senses are overwhelmed. Sights, smells, and sounds. An eager receptionist hands you a brochure, assuming you are here to book your own nuptials. You let her know you’re here for your “friend” and she hurries away. You sit in the lobby, waiting for over 30 minutes, but the bride is a no-show. To your distress, you hear the same sappy love song over and over. Just when you’re about to leave, it occurs to you that the song may have the key to earn your next playing card.

Las Vegas Wedding Brochure. I wasn’t sure how to solve the puzzle on this part. I tried listening to the song a few times until I noticed that this had the answers for my mission. The answers were hiding in the wedding packages portion!

The brochure offers a 10% discount on any wedding package when you book on your birth month.

These are the wedding packages available in the brochure. I used this as a reference when I was listening to the song.

It was a tricky puzzle! So far, this is the part where I used most of my time.

You’ve identified another playing card. Remove the NINE OF CLUBS from the deck of cards included in your box and set it aside for later.

I’m getting closer to the end of the mission! Next up is the Strat Hotel and Casino!

The Strat Hotel and Casino towers over the city at the north end of The Strip. It provides perhaps the best sweeping views of Las Vegas and offers a unique dining experience. At the top of the 1,149 ft structure is a glass enclosed restaurant that rotates 360 degrees. After a satisfying heavy meal, you can then ride on one of The Strat’s five thrilling rides that defy gravity and dangle you over the edge of the skyscraper.

But today, you’re here on a mission. After looking around the observation deck, you spot a coin operated binocular viewer. You deposit a quarter and peer into the viewer, which is pointed at a swimming pool below. Nice! Maybe you’ll catch a nice view of sunbathers.

Unfortunately, the pool is empty, but there is something peculiar about the scene. To earn your next playing card, decipher the passcode hidden in plain sight and enter it below:

The Strat Puzzle. To solve this puzzle, I matched the color pattern of the umbrellas with the swimming barriers. Some of the barriers don’t correspond with the umbrellas so I disregarded the letters that they represent until I came up with a complete word!

You’ve identified another playing card. Remove the KING OF CLUBS from the deck of cards included in your box and set it aside for later.

Now, it’s time to visit the Las Vegas City Center!

You walk into the Las Vegas City Center and admire the beautiful decor and luxurious open space in the main atrium. The stores are all very high-end, including Tiffany & Co., Tom Ford, Louis Vuitton and more!

You are handed a boutique circular that you can peruse to decide where to shop. Prices aren’t listed in the catalog, but if you scan its pages you might find something you can use to earn your next playing card.

Mode Fashion Advertisement. This advertisement is the next item for inspection. I used this to earn my next playing card!

There’s a noticeable barcode at the back of this advertising material. A word appeared when I scanned it!

You’ve identified another playing card. Remove the EIGHT OF SPADES from the deck of cards included in your box and set it aside for later.

I proceeded to the next location, which is Wicked Spoon!

You’ve looked high and low for the best buffet in Las Vegas and you may have found it at the Wicked Spoon in the Cosmopolitan hotel. Luxurious food and drinks are offered in a chic modern setting.

You hesitantly approach the counter that one of Ocean’s henchmen points you to. As you admire the gorgeous spread set before you, you notice what might be a hidden message. What is the secret code to get the next card?

The dishes in the photo resemble some letters of the alphabet, where I got the clue!

You’ve identified another playing card. Remove the JACK OF HEARTS from the deck of cards included in your box and set it aside for later.

The next stop is the Mob Museum!

The Mob Museum, or as it is officially named the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, features a wide array of artifacts, stories and exhibits centered on organized crime in the US. You can see the original courtroom where 14 hearings were held in 1950-51 that exposed many organized crime rings and the actual bloodied wall from the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. But your favorite exhibit is a disturbing wall with victim photographs, appropriately named “The Mob’s Greatest Hits.”

Las Vegas has deep roots with organized crime that spans 100 years. However, today’s organized crime is much different than what you traditionally think of, such as Al Capone and John Gotti. Contemporary crime rings are not organized within neighborhoods and often remain nameless and faceless thanks to the Digital age.

Ocean’s tech team has hacked into one of the casino’s network and is using its servers to attack Russian businesses. To earn your next card, you must identify the compromised casino using the list below:

  • MIRAGE
  • ORLEANS
  • NEW YORK NY
  • TREASURE ISLAND
  • EXCALIBUR
  • CAESARS PALACE
  • ARIA
  • RIO
  • LUXOR
  • OASIS

I used the first letters of the words that I have on my list for the next password!

You’ve identified another playing card. Remove the SEVEN OF CLUBS from the deck of cards included in your box and set it aside for later.

Caesars Palace was established in 1966 and is one of the largest and most recognized casinos on the Vegas Strip. Founder Jay Sarno envisioned an opulent experience where visitors are treated like Roman gods while indulging all of their human senses. Throughout the casino palace, scantily clothed Romanesque statues are on display.

The key to your next card is deciphering a code found carved into a sculpture of Venus. There are 3 missing words in a sequence of words that transform DICE into CARD. One letter is changed in each line to form another real word. To earn your next card, you must provide the three missing words.

Ceasars Puzzle. It’s pretty easy to solve this particular puzzle. Beginning with the word Dice, I just changed 1 letter on every line to come up with the password.

You’ve identified the final playing card. Remove the TEN OF CLUBS from the deck of cards included in your box and set it aside for later.

Now that you have collected ALL 10 CARDS, let’s play a little poker! The game is 10-card poker where Kings are wild. (Click here to brush up on your poker.) The best hand has all of the details required to catch Ocean and his gang in their next heist.

To complete the Find, first identify the winning hand, then look closely at those five cards to uncover the date, time and casino location of the yet-to-be-committed crime. Good luck!

The last part of my mission is to determine exactly when and where this crime will be. Using the 10 cards that I got from my successful missions, I found out the answers to stop Ocean’s group with their plan!

You successfully completed the Las Vegas ‘Find’ and stopped Danny Ocean and his pathetic gang from wreaking havoc in Las Vegas and creating another cliché sequel.

This mission set in Las Vegas was an exciting and thrilling one. It includes several challenging puzzles that made such a good brain exercise. The locations were beautiful and it was also great to learn all about them while doing the mission. The satisfaction I felt when I reached the last web page is unparalleled! This is a great subscription for people who love puzzles and adventures or simply those looking for a fun activity to do at home, whether on your own or with your family and friends!
