Everything in my box!

Gray Wolf Island by Tracey Neuthercott ($23.31)

Right before Sadie died, she begged her sister, Ruby, to do the one thing she could never do herself: Find the treasure on Gray Wolf Island.

With just a mysterious treasure map as a guide, Ruby reluctantly allows some friends to join her on the hunt, each of whom is touched by magic: a boy allegedly born to a virgin, a girl who never sleeps, a boy who can foresee his own death, and a boy with deep ties to the island. Each of them is also keeping a secret–something they’ll have to reveal in order to reach the treasure.

As the secrets come to light, Ruby will have to decide: Can she make peace with her friends’ troubled pasts and continue to trust them? Can she forgive herself for doing the unspeakable? Deep in the wilderness of Gray Wolf Island, Ruby’s choices will determine if they make it out with the treasure–or merely with their lives.

From debut author Tracey Neithercott comes a darkly compelling tale of profound friendship, adventure, and finding the strength to tell the truth.

It’s a young adult mystery novel!

The story is about Ruby who promised her dying twin sister to finish off her hunt for the treasure on Gray Wolf Island and her friends who helped her fulfill that promise.

However, it’s really more than just the adventure. It’s also a story about secrets, friendships, and forgiveness!

The author’s prose flows seamlessly and the plot is quite unpredictable. This story also had some lovable characters like the main character Ruby, who is quiet but strong, and her smart friend Elliot.

This Heart Of Mine by C.C. Hunter ($5.96)

A new heart saved her life―but will it help her find out what really happened to its donor?

C. C. Hunter’s This Heart of Mine is a haunting, poignant tale about living and dying, surviving grief, guilt, and heartache, while discovering love and hope in the midst of sadness.

Seventeen-year-old Leah MacKenzie is heartless. An artificial heart in a backpack is keeping her alive. However, this route only offers her a few years. And with her rare blood type, a transplant isn’t likely. Living like you are dying isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. But when a heart becomes available, she’s given a second chance at life. Except Leah discovers who the donor was ― a boy from her school ― and they’re saying he killed himself. Plagued with dreams since the transplant, she realizes she may hold the clues to what really happened.

Matt refuses to believe his twin killed himself. When Leah seeks him out, he learns they are both having similar dreams and he’s certain it means something. While unraveling the secrets of his brother’s final moments, Leah and Matt find each other, and a love they are terrified to lose. But life and even new hearts don’t come with guarantees. Who knew living, took more courage than dying?

This book is unique, as it’s a mix of YA romance with some thriller and mystery.

The story tackles grief and death, but also gives the readers hope and valuable life lessons!

Leah, the protagonist, lives with an artificial heart. She’s strong and inspiring! Meanwhile, Matt is such an endearing book boyfriend. He’s smart, kind, caring, and loyal. His twin brother who died of suicide is Leah’s heart donor.

The author’s engaging writing style held my attention until the very end. Although there were heavy parts, the story is overall sweet and endearing!
