The MasterClass Instructor – Gordon Ramsay

Gordon Ramsay is back for his second MasterClass and is excited to step it up to a new level by bringing viewers many of his famous restaurant recipes to your home! He opens by telling his viewers that this class is made up of methods and secrets that he is teaching the best chefs in the world.

Gordon was born in 1966 in Johnstone, Scotland, and raised in StratfordUpon-Avon, England. At the age of 16, Gordon enrolled in a course in Hotel Management at North Oxfordshire Technical College, England. Gordon worked under eminent chefs Marco Pierre White and the Roux brothers before moving to Paris in 1990, then returning to London to open his first restaurant, Aubergine, in 1993.

Gordon Ramsay is a now a world renowned chef whose restaurant has held three Michelin stars for over 17 years. His restaurant empire includes 30 high-acclaimed restaurants throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States.

Gordon Ramsay has created another fantastic class that provides great insights and cooking techniques that will elevate your cooking. This class focuses on a wide variety of recipes that follow a three course meal foundation. Gordon demonstrates appetizers, sides, a variety of entrees. His entrees include duck, lamb, chicken, fish, and vegetarian recipes. Lastly for dessert, Gordon shows viewers how to master a raspberry soufflé.

Cooking II: Restaurant Recipes – Who is it for?

This class is for anyone who wants to take their cooking to the next level. The recipes and techniques in the class are used in Gordon Ramsey’s 3 Michelin star restaurants. This may seem like an intimidating task for young chefs, but Gordon has created an excellent class that provides viewers with everything they need to succeed. In the first lesson, he even talks about how his goal is really to provide all his viewers of any experience level the confidence they need to take on these recipes. He guarantees the first and second time won’t be perfect, but the third, fourth, and fifth time you are going to nail it.

MasterClass Workbook – Gordon Ramsay

The workbook for this class will be your guide to replicating the fantastic dishes made in each lesson. For each lesson, the workbook has a cooking timeline and a preparation section to help viewers prepare to cook each meal. Along with the detailed recipes and methods, each recipe includes an ingredient notes section that provides substitutions and workarounds if you can’t find specific ingredients. There is also a dietary restriction section with notes on modifications to accommodate vegan and gluten-free diets. Lastly, each chapter also has a beverage paring!

MasterClass Cooking II: Restaurant Recipes Key Takeaways

This class has a great variety of top class recipes. Even though these recipes can be challenging, Gordon Ramsay has created a very detailed class that goes step by step through the methods. Some of the great recipes from this class include, roasted eggplant with basil and feta, crispy duck with red endive and spinach, and a red wine poached egg, asparagus, and mushrooms dish.

Cooking is not a sprint—it’s a marathon.

What I found really beneficial was Gordon Ramsay’s approach to no waste cooking. He uses this method throughout the class while also including a section with three recipes that use the entire chicken. These recipes include a hoisin chicken and pickled daikon, Szechuan Pepper Roasted Whole Chicken Stuffed with Lemon, Fennel, Onion, and Thai Basil, and lastly a Szechuan Chicken Breast and Udon Noodles which also takes advantage of the chicken broth.
