One thing that I wish I had learned when I first started as a director was that all I really needed was confidence and a pen and a paper.

You have to think about what time of day certain scenes can be shot, what is necessary of the actors in each scene, and how your actors may perform based on if the scene is filmed in the morning or at the end of a long day.
