Everything in the box!

We’re excited about this new adventure! This box is all about Ethiopia!

Cooking class in Ethiopia didn’t go exactly like I planned. I couldn’t get anything right! But, when my instructor told me about a cooking competition to be crowned Ethiopia’s best chef, it seemed like the perfect chance to redeem myself. So I was off to the races! The only problem? My cooking rival, Mammo, was ahead of me at every turn. From picking peppers to harvesting honey… welcome to Ethiopia!

Upon opening the booklet, there was a feature about Ethiopian cuisine!

There are also a few stories that my kids enjoyed, like The Pepper Problem.

Another story is entitled Bee Kind. The stories come with fun illustrations, making them more appealing for kids.

The last one is The Competition, where the kids explored more about Ethiopian cuisine!

The keywords in the stories are colored so kids easily remember them!

Keychain. This adorable keychain can be attached to a bag or used as a key holder!

It features one of the animals that can only be found in Ethiopia, the Black Lion.

Ethiopia’s Black Lion is genetically distinct from all other Lions in Africa. They are typically found in Bale mountain park, and sport a distinctive black mane after which they are named.

Reusable Stickers. This sticker sheet features different Ethiopian dishes! These are meant for matching to the map provided in the box.

There are more facts about Ethiopia inside the booklet! Ethiopia is in Africa and its capital city is Addis Ababa. The country has a population of 109 million. Their language is Amharic and their currency is Ethiopian Birr.

Here’s the map of Ethiopia, where the kids need to match the reusable stickers!

Each number on the map corresponds to a description on the left side.

My kids used the descriptions to place the reusable dish stickers on their correct location on the map.

My kids had fun putting the stickers on the map and learning about where each food came from!

There’s a lot to learn about them! From making Spris, and the history of humanity, this is such a fun booklet to read!

Here is more info about the official language of Ethiopia, Amharic.

Amharic is one of the Ethiopian Semitic languages, which are a subgrouping within the Semitic branch of the Afroasiatic languages. It is spoken as a first language by the Amharas and as a lingua franca by other populations residing in major cities and towns of Ethiopia.

For the activity, my kids made a Bee House! The box provided the following materials: paper straws, pipe cleaner, peel and stick googly eyes, yellow paint, foam brush, and black yarn. We only needed a pair of scissors and recycled cans or water bottles from home.

The back of the activity card included detailed and illustrated instructions for this craft.

We cleaned the can first before proceeding with the project. Then, my kids started to paint it yellow and then let it dry. After an hour, they added another layer of paint.

When the second layer of paint is dry, it’s time to decorate the can. My kids wrapped the black yarn in the middle of the can, used the pipe cleaners in forming the wings, and then added ome googly eyes. They also cut the paper straws in half and put them inside the can.

Here’s the final product! These bee houses look great!

It’s recommended to hang the bee houses in a place that gets good sun and won’t get wet when it rains.

Postcard. We also got a Canada postcard from this box! It features a map of Canada, as well as the popular tourist attractions, activities, and food there.

When we turned the card over, we were surprised that this was actually a sneak peek for the next box!

It is another fun adventure with WompleMail! This time, the box is all about Ethiopia and it included materials that taught my kids everything from the country’s history and culture to sciences, food, and even nature! Aside from the reading materials and the map, there’s also an art project that makes such a fun bonding activity for the family and a bee-friendly habitat! This travel-themed activity box is a great way to keep the kids busy and entertained at home. Also, we are excited about the next box already because of the sneak peek they gave us!
