The mini magazine’s cover is really nice!

Inside, there’s a list of all the items in the box, as well as an interview with this month’s featured author Erin Bowman.

Knowing what inspired the author to pen a story can help children understand the book better.

They also suggested some titles for further reading, especially if you love this month’s book:

The next page has a community feature about readers Claire and Eden! They also gave us info for the June Box Photo Challenge!

Mandrake Woodmark. This is a bookmark made with wood, thus it’s called woodmark! It features Mandrakes from Harry Potter, which are known to scream loudly whenever unearthed.

The woodmark is from Mandrake of the Month Club! It features really cute images of the magical plant!

Fluffy Dandelion Gel Pen. The pen’s top has the dandelion flower which actually looks like a cotton ball!

The barrel of the cute pen even includes leaves!

It also has a cap, which appears to be a part of the stem as well. I really like how it smoothly writes.

Fire Flower Power-Up Decaf Tea Blend. The box included a Super Mario brothers-inspired tea, which is a decaf tea blend of cinnamon Fire Flower, and it will help you power-up!

It also lists the ingredients and even the instructions on how to prepare it.

The back of the packaging is transparent so you can see the loose leaves inside.

Crystal Growing Cherry Tree They also included a crystal growing cherry tree, with the materials packed in a cute box.

The box contains 1 cherry tree form, terraforming powder, base tray, and instructions. It is also non-toxic and safe.

Here’s everything inside the package!

Of course, they included detailed instructions on how to form the tree. From home, we only need scissors, paper, warm water, and small mixing glass.

They even included cherry tree facts! According to the sheet, the cherry fruit is a drupe or a stone fruit, and cherry tree ranges in size from six to thirty feet.

The cover art of the book, which is also the included card’s design, features the heroine of the story. It also welcomes us to Mallory Estate!

The flip side has a note from the author.

The book comes with a sticker that says it’s an Owl Crate Jr. Exclusive Edition!

The Girl in the Witch’s Garden by Erin Bowman ($17.99)

The Secret Garden meets Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children in this rich, charming middle grade adventure about a girl determined to infiltrate her grandmother’s enchanted garden with the help of some magically gifted friends.

Mallory Estate is the last place twelve-year-old Piper Peavey wants to spend her summer vacation. The grounds are always cold, the garden out back is dead, a mysterious group of children call the property home, and there’s a rumor that Melena M. Mallory—the owner of the estate and Piper’s wealthy grandmother—is a witch.

But when Piper’s father falls ill, Mallory Estate is exactly where she finds herself.

The grand house and its garden hold many secrets—some of which may even save her father—and Piper will need to believe in herself, her new friends, and magic if she wants to unlock them before it’s too late.

The back of the book gave us a taste of what the story is all about.

The dust jacket’s flap has the story synopsis. It also introduced us to the Mallory Estate and the 12-year-old Piper Peavey.

One of the first few pages has the author’s signature.

The following pages gave us more ideas about the Mallory Estate! It even comes with a map!

Piper Peavey is scared of the Mallory Estate because the grounds are always cold, and there’s a rumor that her wealthy grandmother is a witch. However, as much as she doesn’t want to stay in that place when her father fell ill, she had to spend her vacation in the estate.

The grand house and the garden hold many secrets, and it may save her father. It’s a weird story where magic and reality come hand in hand, which made it a delight to read. It also shows how Piper’s character developed to become a resilient and strong girl.

Monthly Collectible Sticker. This month’s collectible sticker is designed by Erin Gibbs. It’s a happy elf sitting atop a mushroom!

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett ($6.29)

After losing her parents, young Mary Lennox is sent from India to live in her uncle’s gloomy mansion on the wild English moors. She is lonely and has no one to play with, but one day she learns of a secret garden somewhere in the grounds that no one is allowed to enter. Then Mary uncovers an old key in a flowerbed – and a gust of magic leads her to the hidden door. Slowly she turns the key and enters a world she could never have imagined. With a heartwarming introduction by Sophie Dahl, The Secret Garden is one of the twenty best-loved classic stories being launched in the Puffin Classics series in March 2015.

The book includes an introduction by Sophie Dahl, an author’s profile, and a character guide!

The story was well-written, it was easy to read and comprehend. For kids who love mystery, this is a good book to pick up.

My daughter loved the story about how Mary finds her place in the world!

They gave us a sneak peek for the next box! The July 2020 theme is Lost in a Book!

Have you ever been so absorbed in a book that it feels like you’ve been transported to another world? Well, readers, our July adventure is all about books pulling you in and coming to life… for better or for worse! This magical speculative fantasy is just right for fans of Diana Wynne Jones, Eva Ibbotson, and The Wolf Wilder.

It’s another amazing OwlCrate Jr. box and my daughter is so happy about the books she received this month! Both are filled with mystery and amazing adventures, as well as secrets. The stories also showed that the heroines developed into amazing characters who are full of strength! My daughter also loved the bookish items, especially the bookmark and the pen. The theme for next month is promising!
