What Is It? by Nicole Hoang ($12.99)

What’s to Love: For KaBOOM!’s first-ever children’s picture book, we’re ecstatic to work with premier comics storyteller Dustin Nguyen (Li’l Gotham, Study Hall of Justice), who lovingly illustrated a childhood story written by his wife, Nicole Hoang, as a wedding present. It’s a touching story that everyone should experience! What It Is: In a nearby forest, a young girl discovers a mysterious little creature. Together they seek to understand who or what the other is. Featuring beautifully painted illustrations by Dustin Nguyen, What Is It? is a story of wonder, discovery, and the joy of making new friends.

The book cover has a nice artwork of trees with fiery-colored leaves!

The flap of the dust jacket has a silhouette of the creature that a young girl found in a forest. This easily piqued the interest of my kids!

This book is good for beginners because the text is simple and easy to understand. The illustrations are also cute!

The mystery in this story held my kids’ attention until the end. It was a fun read overall!

Shh! Bears Sleeping by David Martin ($6.95)

In the fall
When leaves turn red
Bears know soon
It’s time for bed
Comes winter
Comes snow
Bears are ready
Bears go
In their cave
Warm and deep
Winter is time
For bears to sleep

A lilting read-aloud text and stunning pictures combine to make an irresistibly appealing picture book that follows these fascinating animal friends through the cycle of the year. A page of facts about bears will answer young readers’ questions as they begin to explore the wonders of the natural world.

The book cover features adorable bears! In front, they are sleeping and at the back, they are climbing a tree.

Aside from the beautiful illustration that shows flowers and bees, the dust jacket also included rhyming lines that are nice to read, especially for kids who are practicing to read-aloud.

What mesmerized us all are the images inside the book! They look realistic, and they’re really beautiful.

We enjoyed following the animal’s life cycle in a whole year. It sparked my kids’ curiosity and thought of other animals who undergo hibernation as well.

Crayola Coloring Book.

There’s plenty of entertainment between the covers of the Crayola Playday Coloring Book!

The coloring book has lots of pages that kids can get busy with! There are 400 pages of fun activities!

Every image in the activity book also comes with a caption that the kids can read aloud!

There are lots of coloring pages featuring humans, animals, plants, and more!

Aside from coloring, there are also other activities like connecting the dots to complete the picture, and they can also color the image afterward!

We love that this month’s book selection included not only cute picture books, but also a coloring and activity book! It’s high time that I take out all their coloring materials as they have lots of pages to work on! We also love the 2 picture books, especially the one with the bears. We were wowed by the realistic illustrations and the text is also perfect for practicing pronunciation by reading aloud. Kids BookCase Club is a great book subscription that brings new children’s books each month that not only the kids will love, but the parents as well!
