First look!

Allure is a magazine so they produce a mini-magazine with all the featured items in the box.

The magazine lists each product, the MSRP of the full-sized product, and where you can find more. Plus, you can find some discount codes for a future purchase.

NOTE: Allure sometimes sends several box versions so your mini-magazine and products (and value) may differ from mine.

I appreciate that the editors let us know what they thought of each product. Note that subscribers will only receive one of the two Dr. Jart items shown on the left.

The back had an ad and discount code, and a sample of this product is in the box.

Some of the items came in individual boxes.

Everything in my box! I received six items in my July box.

LAPCOS Charcoal Sheet Mask ($2.80) My daughter is really worried about her pores for some reason so I know she will enjoy using this mask, since it is specifically for that concern.

The charcoal is supposed to draw impurities out of the pores while tea tree oil and salicylic acid help heal and fight acne. Place the mask on a clean face and let sit for 10-20 minutes. Pat any remaining serum into skin.

OSEA Ocean Cleanser ($18) is meant for normal or combination skin and bonus – it can be used as a shaving lotion! It’s supposed to brighten and energize skin while gently exfoliating. It is a deluxe travel size but the container is glass, which always seems to make products feel fancy.

Ingredients include sesame seed and jojoba oils, citrus oils, and lactic acid. It lathered well and it didn’t take a whole lot to get to that point, but the citrus oils made my eyes sting from the fumes, and I didn’t actually use it on my eyes.

Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum ($39) Glass skin is popular now and is supposed to give one an appearance of dewy, luminescent skin. Preferably this would be achieved with good skin care but some of us have to fake it.

Ingredients in this gel include niacinamide (an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory), hyaluronic acid (to keep skin moist), and yam extract (to reduce flakiness). The product can be applied twice per day and has no scent. I think you have to use this for some time to see any results and it may eventually help reduce redness, but it doesn’t actually make any difference in the short term, you’ll need a highlighter for that.

It came with a card with a little more info.

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Gel Cream ($4.80) Some subscribers received a Dr. Jart sunscreen and although I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best, I ended up receiving this product instead, which is suitable for combination and oily skin (I have dry). This gel cream is very light green and has that dimethicone primer “slip”, plus my skin absorbed it very quickly. It has cica inside to soothe and protect skin while Jartbiome helps protect against irritation.

Beautaniq Beauty Butter Lip & Cheek Balm in Peach Blush ($16) is a multitasking cheek and lip tint in a peachy coral shade.

Ingredients include coconut and other plant oils.

My camera made this out to look darker than it really is but it is on the warmer side of the color spectrum. I applied it with my fingers to my cheeks and while I would usually pat it about, I had to gently rub this formula around to blend it out. I tried applying it to my lips but it didn’t look good there and was kind of splotchy and opaque. It stayed in place on my cheeks all day long.

Here it is swatched on my inner arm, two swipes.

Avarelle Acne Cover Patches ($1.70) wasn’t listed in the booklet so I think it was an extra (which happens sometimes) and it turns out it’s the #1 best seller on Amazon in the pore strip category!

The patches have cica, tea tree, and calendula and the idea is to stick these on blemishes and the hydrocolloid sort of absorbs the waste in the zit. I pass these along to my teenager and she is very happy to use them up.

July was a skincare-heavy box to help fight off summer skin woes. I know my daughter will enjoy the mask and pimple patches and I was intrigued by the glass skin serum. The blush worked well to give me a sunny flush. The value for the July Allure Beauty Box was around $82.30!
