This is a review of the Beef Box. Our box this month includes ground beef for life (2 pounds!) and wings for life (2 pounds!) and chicken drumsticks for life (2 pounds!). We also have add-ons: filet mignon and bacon!

Because of COVID-19, there’s a waitlist for ButcherBox, and no current coupons. They’re focusing on existing subscription customers, so we encourage you to sign up for the waitlist if you’re interested in this subscription.

Here’s a list of what we’re getting this month!

We’ve always had everything arrive rock-solid, so there have been no issues with temperature control during shipping. The meat arrives ready to throw in the freezer or thaw for use.

All the meats are vacuum-sealed in plastic, packed in an insulated bag, and then kept frozen within the outer soft-side cooler padding and box with a large dry ice pack.

According to this part of the box, the packaging is made using eco-friendly and 100% recyclable materials.

Everything is portioned to a manageable size, so you can pull it from the freezer as needed without thawing more than you want.

There are a couple of big roasts, but everything else is portioned smaller.

Everything in my March 2020 box!

First up is our add-ons: filet mignon and bacon!

Grass-Fed Beef Filet Mignon Steak. Filet mignon is a small cut from the smaller end of the tenderloin muscle, producing the most tender meat of any cut!

Each pack contains 170 grams of hand-trimmed delicate filet. It’s so tender that it can be cut with a basic table knife. Once these are cooked, there is virtually no waste at all.

Applewood Smoked Uncured Bacon. You’ll never go wrong with bacon! This bacon is truly irresistible with its sweet-smoky flavor. It doesn’t contain sugar though, only salt and cultured celery powder. It’s also smoked over real hardwood, no wonder it tastes so good!

There are different techniques on how to cook this smoked bacon. They can either be microwaved, put in a broiler, or baked in an oven. It’s also certified to be gluten-free, non-GMO, and paleo-friendly.

More meat cuts!

Grass-Fed Beef Tri-Tips. This part of the beef is also known as the triangle steak or bottom sirloin steak because of its almost triangular shape and fairly-tender, lean cut of meat.

It’s really good, as it features a tender texture with rich flavorful taste. It’s the perfect meat for roasting and grilling as well.

Grass-Fed Beef Premium Steak Tips. Steak tips came from either the sirloin, tri-tip, or coulotte. It’s the ideal meat for grilling or braising!

This part of the beef is so good! We got a nicely trimmed one with a tender texture and a rich flavorful taste with little to none connective tissue.

Grass-Fed Beef Bavette Steak. This cut is also known as the Flank steak. It is a meat that is sourced behind the plate and below the loin. It’s a large flat steak, with a very noticeable grain that runs cross-ways.

This cut has a rich meaty flavor that is easy to cook, and is ideal to be marinated, grilled, and sliced thin, making it one the most popular choice for buffets and parties.

Grass-Fed Beef Flat Iron Steak. Iron steak is a cut of meat that was taken from the shoulder part of the beef. It’s so lean and meaty, and the best meat to pair with full-bodied sauces, like a red wine glaze.

It is known to be one of the most popular choices for marinated or grilled steak or sandwiches for serving over a fresh salad in buffets.

Lastly, here’s our organic wings for life and ground beef for life!

This month’s box includes 2 pairs of Grass-Fed Ground Beef!

Grass-Fed Ground Beef. This cut of meat is a staple in our box! It’s a grass-fed ground beef made of 85% lean and 15% fat, and the most ideal meat to use as burger patties.

It’s so juicy and very meaty, plus it produces only a bit of liquid when cooked, making it the perfect meat for grilling cause it won’t flare up much when cooked on the grill!

Aside from the Ground Beef, we also got here 2 packs of chicken wings – looks like they subbed those for drumsticks this month.

Organic Chicken Wing Sections. Each pack consists of 3 smaller pouches that contains 7-10 pieces of organic chicken wings. These chickens are certified to be non-GMO, USDA-approved, and don’t contain hormones or even steroids.

Though these meats are huge cut chicken wings, they are still quick and easy to cook, making them the best meat for barbecue and frying partnered with our homemade sauces!

Butcher Box is truly an outstanding subscription for meat lovers. You may find it a little bit pricey, but the quality of the meat makes it totally worth it. This month’s box includes an excellent mix of premium-quality and well-portioned meats that includes grass-fed beef and uncured bacon, and even antibiotic-free chicken wings! Their bacon will always be one of our forever favorites! All the meat arrived deep-freezed and was cut into manageable sizes, so preparing and cooking them is way easier.

Stay tuned for our “what we made this month” post to show you our goodies all cooked up!
