I can’t wait to see what’s inside!

Everything in my box!

I received a tea postcard that doubles as desk art when propped on a table.

Amoda includes a guide to the teas of the month. They mentioned that they have added a new tea brand to their site and included a discount code for an online purchase.

Amoda sends loose leaf blends so make sure you have a way to strain out those leaves. They included a roll of disposable tea bags or you can use a strainer or tea making system.

I received a black tea, oolong, green tea, and herbal. All but the oolong are blends.

Beach House Teas Arch Cape Dark Tea is a black tea blend and has a sweet and spicy flavor profile thanks to the pears and ginger. I saw that the instructions said to use 1 teaspoon of tea but I went ahead and used 1.5 teaspoons and found that the resulting cup of tea still wasn’t very strong and it also had no bitterness. This is perfect for an afternoon cup!

The base is black tea and you can see the dried ginger and pears in the mix. I didn’t feel any burning effects from the ginger, but I did enjoy the flavor of this tea. I added sugar but didn’t feel like it needed any milk.

Tea Rebellion Father Zambezi’s Mission Tea Oolong is tea that has been oxidized for longer than green tea, but not as long as black tea. The caffeine amount also falls in between the two.

I used 1.5 teaspoons of tea and they really unfurled while steeping. The flavor was really a contrast – bold yet mild. The color was mild, a light yellow shade, and the flavor had some tannins, but not enough to make me add sugar. I didn’t add milk either. I thought I detected a hint of peach!

Naturel Tea Mint Green Chai What a wonderful cup of tea – this has so many contrasts and yet they work together so well!

When I think of chai, I usually think of a black tea base, but this one has the more delicate green tea instead. The warming spices such as ginger heated my throat, yet the peppermint left my mouth with that refreshing coolness. I didn’t feel the need to add any sugar to my cup, although you could certainly steep it in milk and sugar to get a traditional chai experience.

Naturel Tea Alpen Glow Banff Blend is our caffeine-free herbal for the month and has some herbs and flowers plus plant leaves inside.

Isn’t it beautiful? I wasn’t a fan of the scent; it reminds me of summer vacations in the mountains but that doesn’t come across very well in the cup! I could definitely taste the sage, which I think of as a savory ingredient, but then there was peppermint and something was similar to lemon juice and it just didn’t work for me.

Spring has sprung in my part of the country and these teas helped me welcome its arrival! The teas in my March shipment from Amoda were very tasty and I was especially happy with the darker choices, plus the green tea was a great afternoon pick me up. The only one that didn’t work for me was the herbal, mainly because I didn’t care for the smell after steeping. I appreciate that Amoda sends teas from independent companies and that they add a new company every month!
