I received a card with background info on the featured brand for January, Honua Hawaiian Skincare:
Our natural skincare line draws inspiration from traditional Hawaiian healing practices to offer effective, beautiful skincare products and practices that are clean, green, organic and cruelty-free. The name Honua comes from Mama Honua (Mother Earth) because the Earth is the heart of our company, the foundation where our botanicals are born. Our name gives credit to her. Honua Hawaiian Skincare shares with the world a new approach to skincare through traditional methodologies and Hawaiian healing botanicals. We hope you will join our skincare and self-care adventure.
The back of the card listed each product, its retail value, and how to use each item. Check out the #pearltip for additional info.
Everything in my January 2020 Pearlesque Box!
We received two products this month.
Honua *New* Aloha Youth Serum (Listed value $92) We received the new youth serum, which isn’t available to buy just yet. You can still purchase the old serum until it runs out, and that one is only $58.
I am not sure what has changed for the new serum, although the website says they have added bakuchiol, which is supposed to be a less-irritating alternative to retinol.
Isn’t the box so cool? They highlighted a few of the standout ingredients.
The full list of ingredients was also on the box and you can compare to the website to see all of the changes. There are some preservatives listed at the bottom that were not in the original.
See how the box opens up? The old formula came with a dropper but this bottle has a pump. The serum was off white and non-oily. It smells like ylang ylang and didn’t feel greasy.
Honua Līhau Refreshing Face Mist ($18) According to the Honua website this product is so new (and in limited quantities) that it doesn’t even come with the exterior box. The ingredients are aloe juice, sandalwood hydrosol, witch hazel water, hyaluronic acid, vetiver oil, blue tansy, neroli oil, citric acid, potassium sorbate, alcohol, and sodium benzoate. Honua is known for their 5-step skincare ritual and this item is maybe step 6? I used it instead of step two (which is a toner step) and sprayed it on a cotton pad then swiped over my face but you can also use it as a refreshing spritz. I am not a fan of alcohol (too drying for my skin) but you should see the tube inside of the bottle – it is a cool blue color thanks to the blue tansy!
The January Pearlesque Box had two items from a very popular brand. I am looking forward to seeing how the serum works for my skin over time but the face mist isn’t for me (luckily my daughter loves that type of product). We almost always get a facial oil in this subscription so it was nice to see a non-oily serum (although I actually love the oils, but then I have dry skin). The value for the January box was around $110!
FYI: The February box will feature 7 products from delia organics!
