The Turn Of The Key by Ruth Ware ($12.19)

INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of In a Dark, Dark WoodThe Woman in Cabin 10The Lying Game, and The Death of Mrs. Westaway comes Ruth Ware’s highly anticipated fifth novel.

When she stumbles across the ad, she’s looking for something else completely. But it seems like too good an opportunity to miss—a live-in nannying post, with a staggeringly generous salary. And when Rowan Caine arrives at Heatherbrae House, she is smitten—by the luxurious “smart” home fitted out with all modern conveniences, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and by this picture-perfect family.

What she doesn’t know is that she’s stepping into a nightmare—one that will end with a child dead and herself in prison awaiting trial for murder.

Writing to her lawyer from prison, she struggles to explain the unravelling events that led to her incarceration. It wasn’t just the constant surveillance from the cameras installed around the house, or the malfunctioning technology that woke the household with booming music, or turned the lights off at the worst possible time. It wasn’t just the girls, who turned out to be a far cry from the immaculately behaved model children she met at her interview. It wasn’t even the way she was left alone for weeks at a time, with no adults around apart from the enigmatic handyman, Jack Grant.

It was everything.

She knows she’s made mistakes. She admits that she lied to obtain the post, and that her behavior toward the children wasn’t always ideal. She’s not innocent, by any means. But, she maintains, she’s not guilty—at least not of murder. Which means someone else is.

Full of spellbinding menace and told in Ruth Ware’s signature suspenseful style, The Turn of the Key is an unputdownable thriller from the Agatha Christie of our time.

The back of the book features some brief reviews about the story by best-selling authors, known institutions, and more.

There’s also an included dust jacket that contains the synopsis of the story. It gave us an idea of what to expect about this novel.

It’s a mystery-thriller novel and a well-written one at that, with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader surprised!

The first gift will be opened when you reach page 56.

The gift was packed in a giftable box!

USB Cable. It’s a USB cable that comes with different connections and can be connected to different ports.

There’s also a note that says:

To the new nanny,

My name is Katya, I am writing you this note because I wanted you to tell you to please be

The note is not finished.

It comes with iPhone and Android connectors. The cable looks cute and it’s also in pink!

The next gift was also packed in a cute box. One side looks a bit damaged.

It should be opened on page 213!

Coffee Mug. It’s a really nice coffee mug with a purple flower!

There’s the quote from the author that can also be found on the included print. I also like the marbling on the mug, it looks so exquisite.

The next gift is packaged in a box that has some key prints on it.

It should be opened on page 304!

Necklace. It contains a silver necklace with a big letter “R” pendant!

It’s a really nice piece of jewelry, especially for a person that has a name that starts with letter R!

Maybe this stands for the author’s first name Ruth, or the protagonist’s Rowan.

The next gift is thinner compared to the first three gifts that I got.

This one should be opened when you reach page 335.

Letter. It is an email from Ellie, and it accounts for the happenings of the accident that killed one of the children, which will prove the young nanny innocent.

The box is always filled with fantastic and useful goodies, I love it!

It’s a gripping story that kept me at the edge of my seat with each twist and turn! I love thrillers and this story is definitely on my list of must-read thriller books. I also love the items included in the box, and the email is a nice inclusion as it tells me the real story behind the “murder” of the other child that the Rowan’s taking care of. I also love the mug, it looks beautiful with the purple flower in it, and the USB cable is exactly what I need to charge batteries or connect on-the-go with other devices. I simply love the books that this subscription is sending me, plus the really functional items! I’m excited for the next one!
