jiyūbox is an exciting Canadian subscription box focusing on natural beauty, self-care, jiyūbox is based in Vancouver (I loooove a local box!) and they feature skincare brands that line up with their mission statement of providing natural, effective, safe skincare and beauty products. Everything included is cruelty-free! The box ships quarterly and in addition to the recurring subscription model they also do one-time personalized boxes to gift.

I’m so excited to see what’s inside this box, so let’s dive right in!

First look!

Woodlot Fresh Face Exfoliant ($21) — Woodlot is a brand I’ve been following on Instagram for ages. Their products are effortlessly simple in design but full of ingredients that benefit and enrich your skin. They also do candles and essential oils as well. The exfoliant is a blend of almond and quinoa, and is to be mixed with water to form a gentle paste that buffs away dead skin. It has essential oils of rose, geranium, and bergamot, so those with sensitive skin should patch test to make sure it doesn’t irritate the skin. (Natural doesn’t always equal safe, and essential oils have their own challenges!) French Green Clay helps absorb excess oil on the skin’s surface leaving behind soft, smooth skin.

I’m living for this rose gold packaging!

The jar is a generous size, and you don’t need much for the mask itself.

It has a really nice scent!

Midnight Paloma Detox Mask Kit + Applicator (listed value: $13.50, currently on sale for $5.30!) — Midnight Paloma is a brand I have used previously and adored. Their detox mask is their most well-known product, as it was developed to be a more gentle alternative to the famous charcoal mask trend. In addition to purifying charcoal it contains white clay, soothing rose petals, and rolled oats to exfoliate. It’s so gentle, it’s one of my favourite products so I’m happy to have more.

We were sent three single-used pouches, which are great because there’s no measuring involved. You can mix the mask with water, honey, or yogurt depending on your skin’s needs. The applicator makes it easy to apply to your skin.

Plenty + Spare Lemongrass & Lavendar Soap ($6.75) — This soap bar was the reason my box smelled so good even before I opened it! The combo of lemongrass and lavender is amazingly refreshing, and I’m looking forward to trying it out. The soap contains coconut oil as well as clay, which I’ve never seen in a soap bar before (I’m a body wash kinda gal normally) so I’m definitely curious!

The bar is a generous size and is stamped with the brand’s logo.

Schmear Rosehip +Sea Buckthorn Oil ($25.50) — Sea buckthorn oil is a popular ingredient rich with vitamins. I’ve used plain sea buckthorn oil for its moisturizing properties but the added rosehip and lavender essential oil make this a far more elegant and luxurious facial oil. Rosehip oil is loaded omegas and antioxidants. I can’t wait to incorporate this product into my skincare routine.

Schmear Turmeric  + Coconut Mask Mask ($5.30) — As a bonus, Schmear Naturals included a sample pouch of their Turmeric + Coconut face mask. The pouch has enough for a few uses, which is great.

The ingredients are all centered around calming and soothing. You can mix this mask with water, honey, yogurt, tea, etc. I love that I have a new mask applicator from Midnight Paloma now that I can use to try this mask, too!

Nootka & Sea Desert Rose & Sage Buttercream ($18) — Aloe butter and argan oil are the base of this decadent buttercream, and the herbal rose and sage sent is amazing. The sweetness of the rose is balanced by the earthiness of sage giving it a really herbal and warm feeling.

The texture is smooth and creamy and doesn’t leave my skin feeling too greasy.

jiyūbox is everything I loved boxed up carefully and presented beautifully. Highlighting small Canadian businesses, clean ingredients, and cruelty-free practices, I absolutely loved the curation and the thought put into the items that were chosen. I can’t wait to enjoy everything and would recommend this box to anyone who loves skincare, beauty, and supporting small businesses.
