“Rich colors wash over the pages of Caldecott Honor author-illustrator Molly Idle’s story of a young mermaid who learns that even small actions can achieve big results.” – Seira Wilson, Amazon Editor

Caldecott Honor author-illustrator Molly Idle dazzles with an original mermaid tale about how small, persistent actions can achieve great things.

Sometimes the tiniest light can shine the brightestLike the other mermaids of the deep, Pearl longs to care for the endless beaches, coral reefs, and towering kelp forests of her vast ocean world. So when her mother asks her to tend to a mere grain of sand, Pearl is heartbroken. It takes all her patience and determination to discover how even the littlest mermaid can transform the world.

Caldecott Honor-winning author and artist Molly Idle has masterfully crafted a modern classic in this mesmerizing tale about the immense power of small actions.

I love the positivity of the message at the back of the book.

Sometimes the tiniest light can shine the brightest.

The story is about the little mermaid Pearl, who wants to take care of the endless beaches, coral reefs, and kelp forests. But after her mother tasked her to care for a grain of sand, she was heartbroken. She learned later on that even the littlest acts have big impacts!

The book has beautiful and colorful illustrations, and the pages are all glossy! The colors definitely captured the attention of the kids.

Here’s the image where her mother asked her to take care of a grain of sand, not knowing that even little act has a large effect over time.

Ellie by Mike Wu ($13.38)

“You don’t have to be big to be a big help. Ellie is just a baby elephant but she saves the day–and the zoo–with creative flair and teamwork.” – Seira Wilson, Amazon Editor

The zoo is closing!

Ellie and her friends want to save their home, but Ellie’s just a baby elephant, and she doesn’t know what she can do to help.

While the other animals are busy working, Ellie finds a brush and some paints, and gives the zoo a big splash of color! Will her bright new talent be enough to keep the zoo’s gates open for good?

The story is about the baby elephant Ellie who, despite the zoo she’s staying at is about to close for good, discovered a new talent that may help save their home!

Ellie is a lovely elephant with a gentle heart and artistic soul, and we are all cheering for her to save her home!

The illustrations are adorable and the kids love them! Even if it’s not as colorful as other picture books, the nice drawing actually depicted the scenes of the story perfectly.

It’s a heartwarming story and my kids wanted to read the book again, they like the story very much.

We love all the books this month! The stories share big lessons, despite the characters being small. My kids loved how Pearl wanted to take care of the ocean, and how she learned that even the little task that was assigned to her has a big impact. Of course, Ellie is my kids’ hero for this month! They really love the adorable and artistic elephant. My kids are always excited with new books, and they read them over and over again! Now, all we have to do is wait for the next books from this awesome subscription!
