The contents were sealed with a star sticker.

The May 2019 Spring Equinox Box theme was If Not Now, When. This is the third and final of the three Spring Equinox boxes.

The back of the card listed the “spoilers”, or items in the box. The items tie in with different fandoms, TV shows, and books. For instance, one of the items is inspired by Avengers Endgame. It also lists some unboxing challenges in case you want to share your photos on Instagram and possibly win a prize.

We had a mirror mess up in a previous box but Unplugged Book Box made it all better.

The items were cushioned with shredded paper squiggles and were tucked into yellow tissue paper. It was very spring-like.

I let my 15-year old daughter unwrap the “gifts”, she always tells me about the fandoms.

Everything in my box!

There is always a Spotify playlist. Sometimes the songs have explicit warnings.

The back of the playlist had a recipe for rice pudding inspired by Girls of Paper and Fire. Looks tasty!

Pure Bliss Body Confections Matcha Smoothie Mask ($3.99) A nice way to unplug is to kick back with a face mask! This one can be mixed with water and rubbed on the face, then rinsed off after 10-15 minutes. The ingredients are all-natural: colloidal oatmeal, bentonite clay, rhassoul clay, kaolin clay, coconut milk powder, organic matcha powder, avocado extract, and vitamin E. I would suggest using this on a laid-back weekend morning and then rinse off in the shower.

From The Page Endgame Lavender Soy Candle is an exclusive item just for this box!

I don’t have a whole lot of info on this candle but it looks like the maker uses soy wax. The scent includes lavender, bergamot, tears, and self-sacrifice, so I’m guessing that has to do with the movie tie-in! My daughter noted that it is the shade of Thanos!

I like the glitter stars on top! It smells sweet, fruity, and floral.

“When You Can’t Change” Jar is an exclusive item designed by the Unplugged crew.

It can be used to hold pens, change, or drinks! I frequently use mason jars for iced tea.

It had a warning about preheating the jar before pouring in a hot drink but I will stick to cold drinks anyways.

Best Life Handmade Abby Suso Lip Butter This little Etsy shop is on a break so I can’t tell you a bunch about this product other than what’s on the label. The flavor sounds pretty tasty, right?

Plant oils, beeswax, and flavoring are a few of the ingredients listed on the back.

What a unique flavor! It is toasty and sweet, just as I would expect!

Out Of Print Harry Potter Hogwarts House Socks ($12) We can always use Harry Potter anything in my house! My daughter was like, yep, those are mine, when she saw them.

The socks are made of cotton/polyester/spandex and fits women’s shoe sizes 5.5-9. I am appreciative that this company funds literacy programs with proceeds from the sale of each pair.

So neat and they even say Harry Potter on the bottoms!

Every Moment After by Joseph Moldover ($17.99 list price, now $12.32) Unplugged Book Box sends new releases and this one just came out in April. It has to do with the aftermath of a school shooting, focusing on two characters who lived and how they cope with life after the smoke has cleared.

Best friends Matt and Cole grapple with their changing relationships during the summer after high school in this impactful, evocative story about growing up and moving on from a traumatic past.

Surviving was just the beginning.

Eleven years after a shooting rocked the small town of East Ridge, New Jersey and left eighteen first graders in their classroom dead, survivors and recent high school graduates Matt Simpson and Cole Hewitt are still navigating their guilt and trying to move beyond the shadow of their town’s grief. Will Cole and Matt ever be able to truly leave the ghosts of East Ridge behind? Do they even want to?

As they grapple with changing relationships, falling in love, and growing apart, these two friends must face the question of how to move on—and truly begin living.

Here is a random sample page.

There was a sticker signed by the author, which I placed on the inside cover of my book.

Next was a letter from the author about his book, which is also his first novel!

I found a note to be read after I finish the book.

SPOILER ALERT: I went ahead and opened it so close your eyes as you scroll if you want to skip this for now!

Finally, there was a card with June’s theme on it.

The back of that card had a vendor reveal! Novel Grounds carries bookish bags (think coin purses and pencil bags).

Unplugged Book Box sent a wonderful assortment of fandom items along with a brand new book! I was especially happy with the Harry Potter socks but each item was just right for kicking back and relaxing for a while. I haven’t read the book yet – as a parent of a high schooler, the subject hits a little too close to home. Of course, this might be something my daughter would like to read, but I might wait until school lets out before I pass it along.
