Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box that brings only the best and exclusive Sephora beauty and makeup samples. The subscription costs $10 per month, and you’ll get 5 deluxe beauty products, playlists, and coupons you can use when you visit in-store.

This is the new monthly bag design going forward. It is a reusable zip-top bag that is 100% recyclable. I like that you can get a hint of the products inside.

And don’t forget the quote on the back. This month, the bag is hinting at the bonus sample Sephora’s giving subscribers.

Don’t forget about your Play! Pass. It gets you 50 extra Beauty Insider points with a purchase from the box (in-store only). Your subscription also entitles you to Play! Date meetups, if your store participates. You can also get a complimentary mini-makeover too.

December’s theme is Cheers to Beauty. The assortment was designed to give you “toast-worthy makeup, hair care, and skincare.” Plus, don’t forget to check out The Beauty Insider Community. Create a profile and start joining the discussion!

The fold-out poster shows a list of all the items included in this box plus tips on selecting natural ingredients to help with your beauty needs. You can access all of the information and also watch videos right on the Sephora site or use the app for more info!

Here’s my December box reveal. I received variation was 326. Click here to see variant items in other boxes.

Too Faced | Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer  ($4.25):  I had received this primer from my sister before getting my Play! box and fell in love.  So, I was super happy to get a sample of this. I prefer this over my Too Faced‘s Hangover Replenishing Face Primer for a few reasons. The peach scent isn’t over powering, and the cooling effect is nice. However, what I really appreciate are the mattifying properties of this primer. It did a good job controlling shine and had a nice blurring effect.

Sephora Collection | Rouge Gel Lip Liner in Nothin’ But Nude ($6.00):  So, I’ll start by saying that this deluxe sample does not have a built-in sharpener, but it is still a retractable pencil (yay!). The color is described as a matte true nude. This is a gel-cream formula that glides on smoothly and makes lining a cinch. It is not drying and provides rich color. Generally, I find that most nudes are too light for me, but this was a nice match for some of my favorite shades. It is also a good base for when I want to wear darker or bold colors. With 40 shades to choose from, you should be able to find something for most colors in your makeup collection.

tarte | Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara in Black ($9.86):  I’m so excited about this!!! Honestly, this is one of my absolute favorite mascaras. Now, I have a smaller size to carry in my purse for after work touch ups or those days when I run late and forget to put on mascara (I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve been late to engagements because I had to stop and buy mascara). This is an intensely pigmented formula that curls and separates lashes. As someone with barely there lashes, this does a fantastic job of bringing my lashes to life without falsies.

Just in case you guys thought I was kidding, here is a picture of the sample along with the full-sized version from my makeup box.

fresh | Sugar Lip Caramel Hydrating Balm ($6.00):  I am a big fan of fresh‘s lip products, so you know I was happy to see this pot arrive in my box. With the cold drier air of winter, this arrived at the perfect time. The rich formula hydrates and softens using a blend of Vitamin E, Apricot Kernel, Black Currant Seed, and Grapeseed Oils. This is not sticky and the caramel scent is very yummy. You’ll definitely appreciate this during your midnight kiss.

Bumble and bumble | Thickening Dryspun Finish Volume Spray ($5.17):  If you’ve got fine hair, like me, this is great for giving you added fullness and texture to your hair. I like to use this after a blowout to give my roots a little extra lift. It’s also good at helping me keep my hair from sliding out of braids, so styles last a bit longer.

**BONUS** Too Faced | Lip Injection Glossy in Milkshake ($4.71):  As someone with full lips, I’m not a fan of lip plumpers and wasn’t really sure why Sephora keeps sending them to me. Anyhow, this is a moisturizing gloss infused with Too Faced‘s popular Lip Injection formula. Milkshake provides a glossy shine to lips while softening with jojoba and avocado oil.

December’s Play! by Sephora box was a nice ending to the year. For me, the box was a huge win since it was a collection of some of my favorite products. I was super thrilled for the primer and mascara, but the lip liner and balm were icing on the cake. Overall, the product value this month was around $36.  With a cost of $10 per month, that is a nice return value on the subscription. Can’t wait to see what 2019 brings.
