Animal Planet: Animal Bites Farm Animals by Laaren Brown ($10.90)

With more than 200 gorgeous animal photos of cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, llamas, and many others, Animal Planet Farm Animals is a fun, habitat-by-habitat guide that provides kids in the first years of schooling with the perfect bite-sized view of their favorite farm animals. Arranged thematically with focus on animal behavior and family relationships, young readers will explore sections about animal bodies, baby animals, food, play time, conservation and more. Special book features designed for this age group include Quick Bites sidebars with cool animal facts, simple infographics, and illustrated maps of life in on the farm and at the petting zoo.

For more Animal Bites books, check out Animal Planet Wild Animals, Animal Planet Polar Animals, andAnimal Planet Ocean Animals.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Animal Planet’s R.O.A.R. (Reach Out. Act. Respond.) campaign that partners with leading animal organization to make the world a better place for domestic and wild animals.

It gives children a great view of the farm animals and how to tend to them. Also, the book covers many aspects of farm life.

This shows that even the smallest insects are welcome on the farm because they are part of the ecosystem, just like the bees! As pollinators, they support the growth of trees, flowers, and other plants which then serve as food and shelter for other creatures.

The book is filled with all the facts and know-hows relating to the farm life such as how the animals give birth and what baby animals are called, how they eat, and how much they weigh at birth.

It’s an interesting way to familiarize my kids with how the animals should be treated or taken care of. Also, this book makes them aware of their surroundings and appreciate life.

Totally True Adventures: Finding T-Rex by Kathleen Wedner Zoehfeld ($5.99)

IN 1902, WILLIAM HORNADAY handed a map to the famous paleontologist Barnum Brown. It was Hornaday’s hand-drawn directions to a remote area of the Montana Badlands, where he believed amazing dinosaur fossils lay buried. Following the map, Brown dug up a jawbone edged with six-inch long teeth, the remains of a monstrous creature no one had ever seen before. But one bone wasn’t enough, and Brown soon found himself in a desperate race to discover the skeleton of the mystery carnivore!

It’s the ultimate book for the curious minds and science geeks! Who wouldn’t want to dig up the history of dinosaurs?

It takes us back to some 117 years ago when people were just starting to find clues and answers about the wonders of the world and how the amazing dinosaur hunter Barnum Brown went in search for proofs that they once truly existed.

I love how they brought history alive with the illustrations and how they presented each event in a manner so as to entice the young readers. It’s truly a captivating read.

The Dino Files: Too Big To Hide by Stacy McAnulty ($9.99)

How do you hide a pet dinosaur?

Taking care of a baby dinosaur is hard work. And it’s even harder when you can’t tell anyone about him! Frank and Sam are good at feeding, cleaning, and walking Peanut. But their grandma has found a new fossil and it looks just like Peanut’s horn . . . only a thousand times bigger! Will baby Peanut grow to be that huge, too? How do you hide a dinosaur when he becomes as big as a house? It won’t be easy. Especially when scientists come to the dig site to make a movie about the new fossil.

The hilarious Dino Files chapter book series follows a nine-year-old dinosaur expert, his paleontologist grandparents, a cat named Saurus, and fossils that might not be so extinct!

My children love animals so much that they were very thrilled to start delving into this book about a boy who kept a dinosaur as a pet!

Each page bears a gripping turn of events that kept my child totally engaged with it. He said it was breathtaking how hard Frank and Sam tried to keep Peanut as a secret and how they almost got caught. He couldn’t put it down!

We loved how it ended in a cliff hanger and now we can’t wait to get hold of the next book! It was a well-paced book for children of young age.

All in all, these books are a pleasure to read for my children! For kids who have a keen interest in animals (may it be farm animals, wild animals, and even dinosaurs), these are wonderful and excellent books to read. The book Farm Animals even had a Glossary and Resources section which are totally useful. They even included some fun activities in it too! My kids now have an advance learning about these animals and I am so happy. The other two books are amusing too. They are proof that dinosaur tales will always be fun for all ages.
