The items are packed in a mint green mailer.
The lifestyle item often doesn’t fit in the sample box.
Birchbox has always been about the samples, so if you are a stickler for calculating in-box value, you’ll have to do some math to figure the per ounce value. The cards show the price for the full-size version of the included items — they are available on the Birchbox site. You can see your box at birchbox.com/mybox.
Each month, a special card for BirchBox Man is included. It features some useful tips and life hacks.
This info card identifies the 5 samples in the box. It lists the price of the full-size version available on the Birchbox site, plus a brief tip on how to properly use it.
Here’s everything in my April 2019 box.
Bennkai Umbrella ($24) I am glad to have found a travel sized umbrella which is ideal to keep in my bag. I don’t have to worry about sudden downpours anymore especially when I am in my best attire.
It comes with a compact velvet microfiber sleeve with a thick rubber loop lock so it doesn’t take up much space in the bag. I can always carry it around without hassle!
This triple folding umbrella has a lightweight, but sturdy frame.
The Bennkai logo is printed in white which complements the black umbrella color.
It’s a double canopy umbrella with a silky polyester exterior. This fabric holds up very well and is totally more resistant to water.
The ribs are made to withstand strong winds. They also easily fan out and strongly hold the shape of the canopy. All the protection of a full-scale umbrella is made compact.
Oars + Alps Blue Charcoal Exfoliating Oars Bar Soap ($3.15) Men tend to sweat more than women and therefore we also need the right soap to purge and block bacteria from sweat as well as dead skin cells.
One of its key ingredients is blue-green algae which contain an intense dose of nutrition and protein building blocks that deliver supreme hydrating benefits. They also help replenish the skin.
With this blue charcoal soap that’s designed for deep cleansing and exfoliating, I can now say goodbye to skin impurities!
CW Beggs And Sons Ultra-Moisturizing Cream ($8.40) Extreme weather can cause some existing skin problems to aggravate or even cause new ones. So after washing, it helps to put some cream that keeps my skin protected. This rich, non-greasy cream does it for me. It’s hydrating, suitable for all skin types, and contains red algae that repair the skin’s natural moisture barrier.
Mason Man Skincare Superhero Shave Cream ($3.60) Another product that contains the benefits of charcoal! This facial wash cleanser deeply cleanses and removes dirt and build up. My skin feels so polished and hydrated right after using it!
Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Energizing Tonic For Men ($3) Cleanse, tone, and moisturize. These are the three essential skin care steps we need to practice. While some skip the middle step, it actually is as important as the other two. Toner is a solution for excess oil. It removes dirt that facial wash can leave behind. Kiehl’s energizing tonic works way beyond that. It removes blackheads and acts as a soothing aftershave as well.
Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Energizing Face Wash ($4) To pair with the tonic is this energizing face wash. It’s formulated with caffeine, vitamins, and refreshing citrus extract. These power ingredients remove dirt, surface oil and impurities. My skin looks brighter and feels more energized after a day’s use.
Everything a man needs in his grooming kit in one box! Birchbox never displeases. The sample products give me an idea on which ones work for me and which ones do not. So far, I am happy with what I get every month. In this box, I have my fave picks and the first on my list is the Blue Charcoal Exfoliating Oars Bar soap. It makes normal shower more revitalizing and refreshing. The bar lathers up smoothly on the skin and lasts longer than ordinary brands. I’d definitely stock up for more.
